Enactus is an experiential learning platform that helps students unleash their entrepreneurial spirit and develop the talent and perspective that is essential to leadership in our ever-changing world.
Enactus South Africa is shaping generations of entrepreneurial leaders, passionate about advancing the economic, social and environmental health of the country.
The Enactus South Africa National Competition brings a positive energy and impact for people, planet and prosperity to life. This year, we LEAD CHANGE and are doing business unusual as the competition will be online. We will commence on the 15th – 16th July 2020 with 16 Enactus teams that will be competing from universities across South Africa. This prestigious event will be streamed on LaunchPad6. The host sponsor of this event is Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited with additional support from AIG, Nedbank.
The competition is the pride of the organisation as it offers the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders a platform to showcase how they have used innovation and business principles to improve the world. These teams of university students will present their efforts to create meaningful social impact and based on the quality of their entrepreneurial projects to change the standard of living and quality of life of marginalized communities. This is the platform where we recognize their innovation, impact made and change they have accomplished and celebrate our future leaders. One team will be awarded the title of National Champion and will advance to represent the country at the 2020 Enactus World Cup which will also be online and live-streamed from 8th to 11th September.
According to Letitia de Wet, Chief Executive Officer and Country Director for Enactus South Africa
“Enactus has proven that it is possible to transform lives and enable progress through entrepreneurial action. Like in business, I believe that competition in the social sector encourages innovation and reward results. This year business, student and academic leaders from across the country will witness how entrepreneurial action and shared innovation is transforming lives. This experience not only transforms the lives of the communities, but it helps our students develop the kind of talent and perspective that is essential in an ever more complicated and complex world. Because, when we come together with our unique talents, passions and ideas, and a common goal for the greater good, we all benefit!”
The Opening Rounds of competition will take place virtually from Monday, 13th July to Tuesday 14th July, where 16 teams will be up against each other in the four opening round leagues sponsored by AIG, Nedbank, and Harmony. The top two teams from each of the opening round leagues will advance to the Semi-final Rounds sponsored by the same companies, that will be adjudicated from Wednesday 15th through to Thursday 16th July. The top two teams from each of the semi-final round leagues will then proceed to the Final Round competing for the National Champion title on Thursday, 16th July. The team that will be crowned national champion team, will advance to the 2020 Enactus World Cup where they will represent our country and compete against 35 countries for the world champion title from 10th to 12th September.
In these trying times for all countries, our students have participated meaningfully in their communities, investing in their beneficiaries’ potential, rethinking strategies to tackle the global pandemic and sowing seeds of social change. We know that the future is based in our communities and the tool to change the state of our community will still be business but business unusual.
