Chelsy Pinto, the founder and Club Chair of the Swift Speed Club of Suzuki enthusiasts, has joined the Suzuki team as PR and Product Planning coordinator.
Chelsy will look after Suzuki’s PR and marketing fleet, assist Megan MacDonald in all public relations efforts and will also assist the product planning team with market intelligence research.
“My love affair with the Suzuki brand started when I saw my first Swift – in Sunlight Copper – in the traffic one day. It piqued my interest about the Suzuki brand and pretty soon I was that person who all dealers hate, constantly visiting the showroom, studying the cars, but never buying,”
Soon enough though, Chelsy managed to put the deposit down on a Swift and she has never looked back.
“A friend of mine introduced me to car club culture and I started a club for fellow Swift and Swift Sport aficionados. We loved the car’s no-nonsense practicality, ease of maintenance and above all its fun-to-drive character.”
The Swift Speed Club has since evolved into over 400 forum members, many of whom are actively supporting the club events. Over 1 800 enthusiasts follow the club on Facebook and over time the club has welcomed Vitara, Baleno, Jimny, Ignis and other Suzuki owners.
Prior to joining Suzuki Auto, Chelsy worked in vehicle retail. She has spent a large part of her career at Suzuki dealers like Suzuki Northcliff, Suzuki Bryanston and most recently at Suzuki Bramley.
Her enthusiasm for the brand has also taken her abroad, where she has driven future Suzuki products, and she is a familiar face on Ignition TV.
“Chelsy’s enthusiasm for the brand is infectious, and we believe she will fit right into the team. She is also incredibly knowledgeable about all things Suzuki, both here and abroad, and we trust that she will be a helpful resource to our media colleagues,”
says Charl Grobler national marketing and product planning manager for Suzuki.
