According to the twenty-five-year-old singer from the East Rand, her new Afrikaans pop song – written by Douvoordag’s Jattie de Beer – is about meeting the right person at the wrong time.
“The lyrics paint a picture of two young people who are lost in love… they are in love with each other and lost in the endless adventures of life. This is the type of fairy tale that you read about in books,”
she shares.
“Here, however, we see that fairy tales do not always have happy endings. I like music that tells stories and loved this song and the message it portrays from the get-go.”
ONS TEEN DIE WÊRELD is a very relatable song and boasts a modern sound that immediately draws attention and invites listeners to sing along. In true Sharoney fashion, her upcoming music video promises to be unique and creative and although she cannot reveal too much about it at this stage, she is excited about sharing it with fans on 20 August!
It follows in the footsteps of 21 Vir Ewig, which was very well received and was accompanied by an upbeat music video that was the first of its kind in the Afrikaans market. The video can be seen on television channels like kykNET, kykNET NOU, SABC 2 and VIA.

These results are compiled from airplay data made available by all radio stations and indicate that the song has reached a total of 5.83-million listeners to date! It is predicted that ONS TEEN DIE WÊRELD will do even better. Sharoney released her debut single, Een Keer, in 2014. It was an instant hit that officially launched her music career. Since then she has had many highlights, including two Ghoema- and Huisgenoot Tempo nominated albums and several chart-topping radio hits (Crush, In Ons Fairytale, Skyn, Wees My Held, Prinses en meer). In 2020 she came second in the Ster-Status reality show on VIA and has had the opportunity of performing at some of the country’s biggest shows and festivals.
When she is not on stage, she acts as a brand ambassador for several companies and products and focuses on living a fit and healthy lifestyle. She is also busy recording new songs for her upcoming album, which will be released soon.
