White Star Achieves Record Breaking Numbers at South Africa’s Biggest Breakfast Challenge
On Saturday 2 June 2018, South Africa’s favourite maize brand, White Star, in an attempt to break the record for South Africa’s Biggest Breakfast, hosted the Biggest Breakfast Challenge at Umlazi MegaCity in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Maponya Mall in Gauteng simultaneously.
The main aim of the event was to have as many people as possible eating breakfast at the same time. For that reason, White Star invited everyone to join in and enjoy a delectable and creamy bowl of White Star Instant Porridge on the day of the challenge. A nutritious and affordable way to start the day, White Star is still a firm favourite among households and is now available in a bigger 2kg family pack.
“A healthy breakfast provides a solid foundation for the day, and school children in particular, need to start the day with a healthy meal because it has been proven to greatly improve concentration levels. The convenience of instant porridge, along with its excellent nutritional value, makes it the perfect choice, and now that we have a bigger 2kg family pack of White Star Instant Porridge available, it makes it even easier for moms on busy mornings,”
says White Star Marketing Manager, Mokhele Makhothi.
Those who attended the South Africa’s Biggest Breakfast Challenge event won numerous spot prizes and hampers, while being entertained by a host of exciting performers. In KZN, Kwaito star Professor wowed attendees with his hit song, Brand New, and in Gauteng attendees danced to Club Controller performed by Prince Kaybee.
What’s more, for every bowl of White Star Instant Porridge consumed during SA’s Biggest Breakfast Challenge, one kilogram of White Star Instant Porridge will be donated to the brand’s affiliated charities. With breakfast playing such a pivotal role to the nutritional needs of children, White Star holding company, Pioneer Foods, has been feeding around 26 000 children from 30 schools in the country on a daily basis and they are calling on all South Africans to support this cause and promote the importance of starting the day with a nutritious breakfast.
“We at White Star want the people of South Africa to remember that a good breakfast can set the tone for the day, and we would like to thank everyone who assisted us in breaking the record for the most people eating breakfast together at SA’s Biggest Breakfast Challenge. A total of 1 578 individuals attended South Africa’s Biggest Breakfast Challenge event, with Gauteng filling 800 tummies and Kwa-Zulu Natal filling 778 tummies. Next year we do it bigger and better,”
says Makhothi.
