MasterDrive trainers enjoy karting
Each year MasterDrive acknowledges one of the departments as the top-performing team in the company. In 2020, the trainers were the proud recipients of this accolade. As part of the award the winning team chooses a team building activity in which to participate. The choice this year was a morning on the kart track at one of MasterDrive’s newest training venues, Formula K.
The managing director of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, appreciates the opportunity for team members to be rewarded for their efforts. “Operating with the omnipresent risk of COVID-19 hanging over all, created one of the most difficult year of operations for most businesses. Yet, our trainers rose to the challenge.
“Their commitment to follow COVID-19 protocols with no exceptions while still providing training in whatever format our clients required, helped us weather the storm well. We can proudly say that none of the trainers were infected and we embraced the opportunity to adapt our training to the new reality with dedication and enthusiasm.”
The go-kart race was a hotly contested event. Eventually, however, the honour of go-kart champion was secured by the managing director, Eugene Herbert, while second and third place was awarded to Kopano Mpipi and Tshepiso Mashego respectively.
The morning provided a great deal of enjoyment for all. The oldest of the trainers, George Moqobane, managed to leave at least two younger competitors in his dust, meanwhile training director, Derek Kirkby, who prioritises road safety wherever he drives, is believed to have attempted to sneak jet fuel into his kart. Meanwhile the operations manager, Motebang Mokoena, managed to spin out four times.
The morning was a highlight during a tough start to the year. “I am glad we had the opportunity to show our appreciation to the trainers for their hard work and commitment to providing training within strict COVID-19 protocols. We look forward to what 2021 holds for the team,” says Herbert.
