South African COVID-19 Heroes

While some are dreaming about which restaurant they are going to visit when the lockdown ends, or how they wish their kids were back at school or them back at work, there are thousands of people who can't afford or don't have access to essential food or health supplies.

There are organisations who are working tirelessly to get these essential services and products to those in need.
Many would like to assist those in need, but are not sure how.
We have compiled a list of a few organisations which you can donate to, or who need volunteers. We will update the list as we receive new information.

One Humanity
In support of the COVID-19 response initiative in the Kwa-Zulu Natal region, One Humanity Foundation are providing assistance to distressed families and frontline workers in the form of food hampers, hygiene packs and sanitizer packs.

Smartboy Food Services
Smartboy Food Services have offered assistance by providing a service where they will be delivering oats, maize meal and rice to organisations assisting in disaster relief.

Penny Appeal
Amidst the global COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown of South Africa, the Yusuf Islam Foundation has partnered with local humanitarian organisation, Penny Appeal South Africa, to provide an emergency relief of hygiene and food packs to vulnerable communities across the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

SDI Force
Johannesburg has 15 000 homeless who are in need of urgent attention. These people are scared, hungry and desperate, SDI Force are in the process of distributing Emergency Relief Items such as food packs, Covid-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), shelter, sleeping bags and apparel to those in need.

Polo South Africa has committed to helping the City of Cape Town through pledging 250 000 cotton fabric masks to be distributed to commuters and essential services across the country.
