A Cut Above at Sorbet Man Cresta

It's important to be well kept but on many occasions we are rushing from one event to the next or traveling here and there that we don't get to groom the way we want and need too. Sometimes we just need to admit that we need help from professionals to ensure that we do it right.

We are currently observing our holy month of Ramadan and depending on when the moon is sighted we will either be celebrating Eid on the 5th or 6th June. Being such an auspicious day and the fact that we will be visiting family and friends, I would like to look my best for the occasion. I know the next few weeks will probably fly by and I might not get a chance to groom myself or better yet, visit a salon.

Slightly after noon today, while in Northcliff, I remembered that a very good friend of mine frequents the Sorbet Man in Cresta, and he told me about the great service that they had offered, so I thought I would pop by.

We managed to get a booking at 3pm, so I took a drive to Cresta and was surprised that the centre offers 3 hours free parking on a weekend, which is more than enough time to get a good treatment and a bite to eat (for those who can).

I walked around the centre because I was a bit early and quickly found Sorbet Man which is located just below Zara next to the escalator.

It was about half an hour before my appointment when I arrived but the welcoming staff at the front desk checked if one of the barbers (stylists as some like to be called) were available to assist me.

It wasn't a long wait until a friendly young man named Robert came to assist. Since my hair was quite a mess, I decided I would need a Signature Cut - which is a haircut anyway you like it. I explained to Robert exactly how I like my hair and he worked his magic.

Before, during and just before I left, Robert offered me something to drink, as the salon offers complimentary drinks, hot or cold, while you wait (which I couldn't as I was fasting) and while you are having your treatment. There are plenty magazines to read and if you are like me - a sports fan, there was some cricket to watch on the TV's that are strategically placed around the store.

Robert and I chatted and he told me about his journey as a barber. His uncle had a shop in Malawi, where Robert was born, and he started cutting hair and styling it, just with a pair of scissors from the age of 7. You could see that Robert had a passion for what he does and a great amount of skill and experience.

It wasn't long until Robert was done with the result being perfect. He brushed all the hair off the cutting cape and proceeded to wash my hair. The warm water and the head massage he was giving me while shampooing and conditioning my hair almost had me falling sleep it was so good.

Robert asked me if I had a preference of Shampoo and Conditioner before he washed my hair, which I thought was a nice touch to the experience.

We chose The Bluebeards Revenge range to use because the name sounded cool and the bottle looked awesome - I was quite pleased with the choice and the result.

To keep with the range, he applied some of their pomade to my hair which helped with a little bit of a spike on the top.

The overall experience was "a cut above" the rest of the salons that I have recently visited and I would definitely recommend Sorbet Man Cresta and Robert specifically if you are in need of a haircut. They do offer a range of other treatments which can be found on their website or in store.
