Dear listeners, it's the first day of the week and our favorite day of the week, Yul A. And right now in South
0:20
Africa, it's 10 2:00 p.m. on this 25th day of Jamadal Oola 1447 ah which
0:29
corresponds to Sunday the 16th of November 2025. I am Zad Plachis and with me are my
0:36
co-hosts Nabia and Issa Plachis and brother Yazdan will be looking after us
0:42
this afternoon inshallah. Welcome to Level Up, where we listen,
0:47
learn, and grow, inshallah, with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala's guidance, and we break down the week's news and talk
0:54
about what really matters to young Muslims. Today, we are coming to you live from the Radio Islam International
1:00
Studios in Johannesburg, South Africa, where it's raining a lot. [laughter]
1:06
And our WhatsApp line is open. The number is 0727861548
1:12
or you can call in on 01854702.
1:18
Yes, before we start as you mentioned it is raining in parts of the country and
1:24
here in Johannesburg it's been heavy downpours since yesterday. So we should read this dua before we start today's
1:32
program. Sorry.
1:52
Oh Allah, let the rain fall around us and not upon us. Oh Allah, let it fall
1:58
on the pastures, hills, valleys, and the roots of trees.
2:03
inshallah. Amen. So, um this week from
2:09
the 17th to the 24th of November is global education week. And we thought
2:15
this week because of global education week, we we can talk all about education. So, there's people writing
2:21
exams. We'll talk about that. We'll talk about how to reduce the exam stress. And Issa will be sharing some study and exam
2:28
duas with us inshallah. And if any of our listeners have their favorite study or exam to us that they
2:35
would like to share, please feel free to send them through on our WhatsApp line on 0727861548.
2:43
Or you can send them on Instagram. We're live at the moment on iilov.com. That's
2:49
I L O V E Z A C O M. Past the half hour,
2:54
we will be discussing Global Education Week with Amy Wittam, who is the marketing manager of stationary at Big
3:01
South Africa, inshallah. But right now, let's get into the news.
3:08
Isa, you have something? Yes.
3:15
Johannesburg is busy as it as it's the G20 summit this month. I
3:23
recently learned that there is the G20, B20, V20 and H20
3:35
summits. So let me tell you the difference between them.
3:42
The G20 summits bring together leaders from the world's largest economies
3:48
to address pressing global challenges and foster economic cooperation.
3:56
The B20 summit brings together business representatives
4:02
from the G20 countries, selected invited countries and international
4:10
organizations to discuss economic and business issues.
4:17
the V20 or values 20 summit an official engagement group of the G20 that
4:24
advocates for human centered values-based policy. The H20 is the
4:32
world halal summit that is usually held in Indonesia
4:38
but is being hosted in South Africa for the first time this weekend from the
4:45
15th to the 17th of November 2025.
4:51
This summit aims to harmonize global halal standards, address challenges
4:57
faced by certification bodies, and strengthen collaboration
5:03
across the global halal supply chain.
5:09
Alongside the summit, a public halal exhibition is taking place at the Kuruba
5:16
Convention Center in Lindro Park.
5:22
Alhamdulillah, Issa. Um, I can see Issa is quite excited about the halal summit.
5:28
Um, I think he just thinks it's full of food. You know that halal doesn't only mean food. Isa,
5:34
so what do you think? What do you think? Or did you already read what's going to be there? I don't read what's going to be there,
5:41
but they said that they address challenges faced by certification bodies. So, they don't only certify
5:46
food. No, I understand that. But um what do you think the exhibition is? There's a
5:52
exhibition taking place at Kura food. So you think it's [laughter] just going to be food? I think it's going to be food.
5:58
You think it's going to be food? [laughter] Okay. So it's on today as well. So it was yesterday and today and
6:04
what time? Tomorrow. I think it's till from 10 to 6. So it's 15th to the 17th of November.
6:09
Oh, till tomorrow. Till tomorrow, Monday the 17th. Till 6 p.m. Yeah, till 6 p.m. Oh, okay.
6:14
10 to 6 p.m. Okay. That's interesting because um our halal bodies actually should be
6:20
harmonized. Yeah, they should be and unified. Yeah. Okay. But you don't want to you don't
6:26
want to go into that. That's another discussion, a whole another discussion that I don't want to get into.
6:31
Okay. All right. Let's let's just continue speaking about the G20. There's
6:36
the G20's woman shutdown. Um so we all heard about the terrible news of the two
6:43
sisters passing away last week. May Allah grant them both genital feros and make it easy for their families during
6:50
this difficult time. Amen. So with this incident and other similar
6:56
incidents, women for change has requested a national shutdown on Friday
7:02
the 21st November 2025. So this coming Friday, they're calling all women across
7:08
South Africa to refrain from all paid and unpaid work in places you in
7:14
workplaces, universities, homes and communities to demonstrate the economic
7:20
and social impact of their absence and also to not um partake in any purchases,
7:26
you know, online and in store to basically not go out to basically show like a silence of all women to have to
7:33
show that what is what the world would be like without you know women.
7:39
Sure. That's that's going to be a sight to see because the thing is nowadays there's a
7:46
lot of women in corporate companies in in like any uh businesses or whatever.
7:52
So if there's a complete shutdown um during this time where we having these
7:58
summits it it will be very impactful and to not inshallah I mean and to not
8:04
purchase anything as well. So imagine you you can't go out to go and buy anything your groceries or anything.
8:10
So then you have to send your other your spouse or
8:15
and he must use his own money. [laughter] Yeah. Okay. But inshallah it goes well and it
8:23
is um if it's a worthy cause and um you know it's done with the the right
8:28
intentions then it will it will be you know it will go successful inshallah.
8:36
Um talking about success it's the end of year and people are looking at successful results.
8:42
Yes. Yes. Um but don't put too much pressure on the
8:47
results. Yes. Yes. We don't have to put pressure on the results. Success doesn't mean that you have to get uh A's or
8:55
you you do your best. You try hard and you do your best. Yes, that that's it. And and with that
9:01
in mind, we don't want people to stress and have anxiety because it always surrounds especially this time of year,
9:08
the end of the year um because you know like you're writing finals or um you
9:14
know you have to move to another grade or to another um year in university or
9:19
whatever it is and it becomes very stressful. Yes. Yes. You know like the grade nines
9:25
would be going into grade 10. They would have to make subject choices. The grade 11s would have to make sure that they
9:31
their results would be really good so that they can start applying for universities from you know they usually
9:37
take grade 11 results and then of course grade 12 that's yeah so so we we we should always seek
9:45
help and guidance from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala um before we start our exams
9:52
before we we study actually before we start studying and then obviously after we study and then before we write our
9:59
exams. Yes. So there's there's there's obviously different different times and different processes, but throughout that
10:05
there's the remembrance of Allah subhanana wa ta'ala and always asking for for guidance, asking to um say the
10:13
right thing, to write the right thing at the right time. Yes. [laughter] Um and the dua always makes say the right thing
10:19
at the right time. Write the right thing at the right time. Yeah. We say it before we start the show as well. Thank you. [clears throat]
10:25
And uh Issa has some study and exam duas that he would like to share with us. Um
10:32
Issa, I have a few
10:38
study duas which I learned from my mom and an online madressa called Madrasa
10:47
which I use and would like to share with you today. Number one to for seeking
10:55
knowledge.
11:12
Oh my sustainer, open up my heart and make my task easy for me and loosen the
11:19
knot from my tongue so that they might fully understand my speech.
11:26
Number two, dua for increasing knowledge.
11:35
Oh Allah, increase me in my knowledge and understanding. Amen.
11:41
Number three, dua for anxiety and worry.
11:56
Allah is sufficient for me. There is none worthy of worship but him. I have
12:02
placed my trust in him. He is the Lord of the majestic throne.
12:08
Number four dua for ease in all matters.
12:21
My lord, make this task easy and do not make it difficult and make it end well.
12:30
Number five, dua for success in exams.
12:45
There is no god but you. Glory be to you, Allah. Indeed, I have been of the
12:52
wrongdoers. Okay. So, I know the English of these
13:00
two, but I need a bit of help with the Arabic. Okay, I'll help you, Issa. I'll read the
13:06
Arabic and you can read the English.
13:11
Number six. Okay, this is a dua to be read before you write your exam.
13:29
Then sufficient for you is Allah. It is he who supported you with his help and
13:36
with the believers. Number seven, dua for concentration.
13:57
Blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam and his
14:03
progeny. Oh Allah, I ask you the one who mentions goodness and actualizes it and
14:10
commands it. Remind me of that which the shaitan makes me forget. Number eight,
14:18
dua after study.
14:38
Oh Allah, I seek refuge in you from knowledge
14:44
which does not benefit from a heart that does not entertain the fear of Allah,
14:51
from a soul that is not satisfied and the supplication is not answered.
14:58
Number nine, dua for studying. Okay, dua for studying. This should
15:05
actually be said first before studying and then the one that we said should be said after studying. Okay, just so you
15:11
know. So dua for studying.
15:32
Oh Allah, make useful for me and what you have taught me and teach me
15:37
knowledge that will be useful to me. Oh Allah, I ask you for the understanding
15:43
of the prophets and the memory of the messengers and those nearest to you.
15:49
Amen. Amen. Shukran Issa for those uh lovely
15:54
duas. And once again, if any of our listeners would like to share their favorite exam or study to us, please
16:00
feel free to send them in on our WhatsApp line. It's 0727861548
16:07
or you can call in on 0185472
16:12
or you can DM us on.com on social media. So a little bit later
16:18
in the program I will also be sharing a few ways in which to reduce stress during exams. Um
16:26
I think there's uh there's there's quite a lot to not
16:32
unpack. I always say unpack [laughter] but there's a lot of ways in which to to
16:38
reduce your stress um while studying. While studying okay no there's lots of ways to reduce your
16:44
stress while doing anything. Doing anything. Yeah. But while studying specifically, we're going to talk about that. It's
16:50
something that I um use for my students when I tutor them as well.
16:56
I um tell them to try and do some of the things you know it's it's very difficult
17:01
to to follow all that and then still study and you know you have to plan it.
17:07
Yes. And organize properly which is one sorry which is one of the things. Did you did you Mr. Spontaneity saying
17:13
plan? Do you know our life is so spontaneous? I would love planning and
17:19
structure but Zad doesn't believe in that. [laughter] Okay. So he says plan. Okay.
17:25
Yeah. So so it's part it's part of the the ways to reduce stress which we'll talk about.
17:31
Yes. It definitely is planning and having type a type of structure really does reduce stress. I'm I'm sorry I I
17:38
need to repeat that. [laughter] [gasps] No, but we'll we'll talk about it after the break inshallah. So let's go for a
17:44
break and when we get back we will have marketing manager of stationery at big SA Amy Whittam on the line. Inshallah
17:52
tutoring, mentoring, homeschool assistance, concessions, facilitation and more
17:58
visit after grant academy the dawn of excellence
18:07
and welcome back to level up. If you've just tuned in, we have been talking all
18:13
about the women for change shutdown, the G20, B20, V20, and H20 summits that are
18:22
taking place this month. And I've shared some of my study and exam duas. But
18:28
right now on the line, we have marketing manager of stationary at Big E, Amy
18:34
Wittam. If you have any questions for her, our WhatsApp line is open. The number is
18:41
0727861548. Or you can call in on 0118547022.
18:50
Or you can even DM us on.com. That's iO.
18:59
Good afternoon, Amy. How are you today? Good afternoon. I'm good, thanks. How are you?
19:04
I'm good, thank you. Thank you for joining us. No, thank you so much for having me on a
19:09
call on this very rainy and gray day. Yes, I hope you're keeping warm. [laughter]
19:14
Definitely. Definitely. So Amy, we've heard that from the 17th to the 25th of November is Global
19:22
Education Week. What is Global Education Week and what did BIC do this year to
19:28
celebrate this initiative? Okay, sure. So global education week is pretty much as it says. It's a global
19:35
initiative where all of Bick around the world gets together and they choose a
19:40
dedicated week in November where uh all efforts are to go and improve the
19:46
learning conditions of 250 million people by the end of this year. It's something that's been going on for years
19:53
um because as you can imagine as a stationary brand education is incredibly important to us. So this year um as we
20:00
do every year we reach out to schools in the area of our head office. So that's in the Bosmont area. Um and this year we
20:08
reached out to CJ Ba Secondary School and we said to them, "What is it that you need from us? What are you
20:14
struggling with and how can we help you guys out?" Um and they then came back to us and they said, "You know what? Uh we
20:20
have this really beautiful library space, but unfortunately it's not functional at the moment." So what we
20:27
went and did is we gave it a complete refurbishment. We repainted it. We put new shelving in. We collected books from
20:34
staff. We added tables. We add added chairs. Um and then in addition to that,
20:39
we had 48 of our staff members from all the various departments packing
20:44
beautiful little goodie packs for the 981 students at the school. And in those
20:49
goodie packs was of course stationery like writing instruments, coloring instruments, and then there was also
20:54
some lovely other donations from Lletes for sanitary tiles um and whisa with some nice nutritional packages.
21:01
Oh wow, that's very interesting. And um to to add on to it as well, I'm sure
21:07
they must have been so excited to receive all of that. Oh my gosh, absolutely. It's probably
21:12
one of the most rewarding things as part of my job, you know, um you get stuck behind your your computer, uh doing your
21:19
normal 9 to5, but going out into schools like that and just seeing something as simple as a pack like that and just the
21:26
joy and and the gratitude that it brings to these students, it really is a worthwhile thing that we do. Definitely. I think so too. And we know
21:34
that Bick is synonymous with stationery, you know, specifically pens. And they've
21:39
been around in South Africa for 75 years. Am I right? Can you believe it? Yes. Absolutely.
21:44
[laughter] And throughout have been at the forefront of helping people to write literally.
21:50
Mhm. Absolutely. So can you tell us about all the other initiatives that runs to support
21:55
education in South Africa? Yeah, sure. Um, so probably our flagship
22:01
initiative that we take part in every single year is our you buy one big donate one initiative. Um it typically
22:07
happens over back to school. Um and it's our commitment that for every big pen
22:13
that's purchased over the back to school period, we will then donate 1 million pens and pencils to underresourced
22:19
schools in need. Um it's something that we've been running since 2012 and to date we've donated over 17 million pens.
22:28
Um so it's really really important for us. We, like you said, we realize that it's something as simple as stationary
22:34
which can make a world of difference in a in a student's life. Exactly. It's basically it's the forefront of um writing. It's the
22:42
forefront of education, you know. It's literally helping us to write. No, that's amazing. It's absolutely amazing.
22:48
And I didn't realize since 2012 you have the buy one donate one um initiative.
22:53
Yes. Absolutely. And it's not not anything that we're looking at stopping anytime soon. We really do see the benefits of doing it. Yeah.
23:00
[snorts] Yes, that's very interesting because then it's basically helping others to um
23:05
you know to to to give back when they buying for themselves as well. So in
23:11
terms of not just individuals, other companies, what message would you like to share with other companies who might
23:17
be inspired to make a difference in their communities? Sure. So I think obviously any companies
23:23
that are hearing this, we just hope that it's that it it it seems inspiration for them. You know that it really is
23:29
anything small that you can do to help out. Um change happens easily just by
23:34
doing simple things and change happens one classroom, one teacher, one student at a time and we really do believe in
23:42
collective effort. If we all come together to do that one single thing, we can really have massive change that
23:48
happens. Yes. I I also believe in that collective efforts and one at a time. I've also
23:54
I've seen that from a big you know change happens one at a time. Absolutely.
23:59
Amy before you go you know it's exam times [laughter] everyone's stressing do
24:06
I know and the parents as and the parents as well. Yes the parents definitely I think we stress um
24:12
twice as much once for ourselves and once for the children. Do you have any tips to share or do you
24:20
have any message for our listeners who are currently writing exams or for the parents who have students writing exams?
24:28
Um, I think the biggest thing I can say is trust your preparation. I think it's so easy to to doubt yourself when you've
24:36
been putting in the the work, but trust your your preparation. When you get to that day where you're just about to put
24:41
pen to paper, take a deep breath and back yourself. know that you have done whatever it takes to get to this point.
24:49
Um, and good luck. You you've got this. So, you know what? Go and make magic happen.
24:55
That's lovely advice. Thank you so much. Thank you so much for your time and for the advice and have a wonderful Sunday.
25:03
You too. Take care and stay warm. You too. Bye. Okay. Bye.
25:09
So that was Amy Wittam from uh BIC uh stationary
25:15
and thank you for her for joining us uh on this rainy day that she says and sharing what Bick has been doing uh for
25:23
global education week but also all the other initiatives. I really like that um buy one
25:28
donate one. Yeah. And it also it it it enforces the the thing about one at a
25:34
time. So you know how I always say change you if you want to start changing
25:39
start from where you are start from what you have start small start you know with
25:44
your family start in your communities so it's just it's basically you know just
25:49
an individual making a difference and collectively if we each make a difference.
25:55
No but it's also it's like like a pay it forward type of thing because some people like they have to buy stationary.
26:01
Yes. Uh just remember that you should buy your stationary now [laughter] before the rush and definitely don't leave it till at
26:09
the beginning of the year before exams. Um um big actually helped us to donate.
26:14
Yes. So um yeah, following on on what we heard from what uh Amy just mentioned,
26:20
they were also kind enough to ask us to nominate a deserving student to receive
26:26
a hamper. So that was on top of what they're currently doing for global
26:31
education week on top of allowing us to also be a part of this initiative where we get to choose
26:39
someone and we actually don't even know the personally. We went to go we actually went looking [laughter] okay
26:45
who can we connect this to research deserving students they're getting a stationary hamper
26:50
inshallah um which you can read about on our website i love.com and on social media
26:57
we'll we'll post more at ives.com as well and I think you asked Amy what
27:02
advice would she give and I thought this was I remember this growing up my
27:08
grandmother always used to say this may Allah grant her and all the jatos
27:13
um that before exam she always used to say think before you ink [laughter]
27:19
and I think it's so catchy yet so appropriate for for today's theme
27:24
um and the fact that you just spoke to someone from big from big who was think before you
27:29
[laughter] so wait and also this can you hear that the click the click [laughter]
27:35
yeah so thank you to Bick for assisting the students um with these packages
27:41
talking about packages ages. Um, you know, around this time of the year, well, I think not only this time, but
27:47
specifically exam time. I don't know if you've seen, we didn't have it when we were growing up, but um, there's these
27:54
exam care packages. Oh, okay. No, I've never seen that. Never seen it. So, so it [laughter] it
28:00
it started off a few years ago and then it started becoming a trend for a while. Okay. And basically, it's like um little
28:07
things to help you with the exams. So, so it could be like stationary, it could
28:13
it's a lot of treats as well. Um to help you while studying. Yeah. To help you while studying.
28:18
Oh, like so chocolates or actually you know what what's a good treat to have? So if if they do have in their care
28:24
package, I'm not sure what it is. I'm sure you know on the day like this they would put um hot chocolate or you know
28:29
this hot chocolate sachets or chocolate. But I think you know to be also Islamically correct you know for sunna
28:36
foods what's one of the sun foods almonds. Hey Issa almonds honey. So maybe snack
28:44
on that. Dates also. Yes. Those are all like good foods to have.
28:49
They're not we that's another topic. [laughter] I think like olives or something.
28:55
Olives. Yes. If you want to um um uh study and have some snacks, you have
29:01
some dates, some almonds, some olives, some um honey, drink lots of
29:07
Now, you making me feel for a care package. So, I'm just going to put it out there. If any of our listeners would
29:13
like to send me an exam care package, it may Allah reward you. [laughter]
29:19
Should it be a sinner one or should it be like a a nice cool one with popcorn and chocolate? don't mind any exam care
29:25
package. [laughter] Whoever is listening and wants to. Okay. But why do you need one? You're not writing exams. Because I'm a tutor. So I I prepare them
29:32
for the exams. Oh, okay. Well, in that case then I'm a concession facilitator and an
29:38
invigilator for about 12 years now. So I read and I scribe while they're writing the exams. So do I also qualify for one?
29:45
Yeah. Well, if you're reading and you're writing for them, then you're actually performing the exam on their behalf.
29:51
[laughter] So yeah, you should um but I think we should definitely discuss that as well, the concessions facilitation
29:59
maybe in a future episode inshallah. Amen. Um, but before we wrap up this program,
30:04
remember I said in addition to the helpful duas that uh Issa shared early
30:09
in the program at the after faj grind academy, we offer you know the tutoring
30:15
and the concessions facilitation like Nabia mentioned and I also assist my
30:20
students with a few things that they can do like I said to to stay focused and to
30:26
help reduce uh their stress and hopefully it might help some of our listeners as well inshallah.
30:32
So like Nabia said um there's to us before during after all all the things.
30:40
So again before the exam create a study plan I'm waiting for to say something. Break
30:48
down your Yes. [laughter] No I I'm not going to say anything. Just
30:53
carry on. Create so create a study plan. Okay. um take your your revision, break it
30:59
down into smaller, manageable chunks. Okay? So, um you know, like if you have
31:05
different chapters that you want to learn on each day or whatever, um have a timet that can help you stay organized
31:14
and schedule in breaks and some fun activi fun [clears throat] activities as well.
31:19
I'm sorry. Um is your student the your homeschooling student currently listening at the moment?
31:25
taking chunks. We do this manageable chunks. Does he do this? [laughter]
31:31
Okay. Okay. So, the other thing is like we mentioned stay healthy. All right. So, that exam care packages or if you
31:38
have the the food at at home, eat nutritious meals. Okay. Um your
31:43
superfoods, so-called superfoods, omega food, uh omega- rich foods. So like fish
31:48
um fish but also you know like your almonds like you said the dates that um you can
31:55
have multivitamins as well. Okay. Um get enough sleep.
32:00
Okay. Yes. This Isa needs to listen to um and build exercise into your routine. So the um
32:08
physical activity can significantly reduce the stress and it also can help you with studying
32:14
because it's um making your blood flow. Yeah. So instead of like sitting for
32:20
like an hour, two hours just trying to study. I know people try to cram um they feel that you know like if they do two
32:26
or three hours of studying and then they just go out you know go to sleep after that then they'll wake up and they'll
32:32
remember everything. But take breaks like like we do at work as well. You know, you take breaks from the computer.
32:38
Get up, move around. Um so in in the same way and it's going to help you like
32:44
you say with the um the blood flow. Then practice relaxation. Okay. Use deep
32:51
breathing exercises, tensing and relaxing muscles or meditation to calm
32:56
your mind. Um this is obviously where salah comes in. Um this helps a lot. uh maybe even read
33:03
a few extra nafil or or sunnah salas as well. So so prioritize your ishraat is
33:09
prioritize your salat da prioritize salat and as well actually start off is da um
33:20
and salat along obviously with your um compulsory salas. Yeah. So that that's also going to help
33:27
you. you've got that break uh in between the studying, plan your day around the
33:33
salah as well because you know when you're writing your your papers. So um
33:38
you know like if you can um you know before your your exam make sure that
33:45
maybe the word is the last uh that you read because maybe you have an afternoon exam or something. Um, you can also try
33:52
other techniques like maybe using a stress ball or listening to kirat or even scheduling time to read Quran
33:59
during your breaks. Mhm. Um, study effectively. So, find study methods that work for you. Not all study
34:07
methods work for everybody. It's not a one-sizefits-all. Um, some people like to highlight stuff.
34:14
Some people like to um, you know, write stuff. Some people like to talk out
34:19
aloud uh discuss it with somebody as well. So speak can I just um interject there?
34:26
So I can remember when I was really really really small when I was in school then I used to tape record myself
34:33
reading what I what I what was in the textbook. I used to record it and then I
34:39
used to play it back afterwards when I was a bit tired. Yeah, that was the my next point. So record your notes or create diagrams.
34:46
Okay. as well. It can also be helpful to study in a way that suits you. Like you
34:51
might want to be alone or in a group or you study with your tutor. Yeah. So that's also, you know, not one
34:58
sizefits all. You decide. If you work better alone, don't be forced to be in a
35:03
group, you know. Um if you work better in a group, then go for it. But for those of you who are not who who
35:10
prefer to study alone and feel like you you can get more in, rather study alone.
35:15
Don't be, you know, forced to be in a group or maybe you just need one person to just, you know, like
35:22
discuss what you've learned. Um, you know, like because sometimes when you talk about it, you help it helps you to
35:28
remember. I know the group thing when we had campus, people used to love to go to the library and do I couldn't
35:36
it never used to work for me either. Okay. Then ask for help. If you're struggling with a topic, ask your
35:42
teachers for clarification. Don't compare yourself to others and talk to a friend, teacher, parent, or even a tutor
35:49
about how you feel. So, you know, um you might be a bit overwhelmed. So, find
35:55
someone that you can confide in um that will help to to calm you down to um you
36:02
know, do whatever you can so that you don't go over the edge because it's
36:07
exams. Yes, we understand, but it's not the end of the world. Mhm. At the same time. And then on on the
36:14
exam day, you need to plan ahead, right? You need to get your materials ready. If it's your student card, your ID, your
36:21
stationary ready because I know um when you go and you write exams, they want it
36:26
in a clear pencil case. Pencil case or plastic or something. Yeah. So, you need to get all that ready. Um
36:33
because a lot of people have like the space cases. Um so, get that ready the night before.
36:38
Set an alarm if you know that your body is not going to wake you up. M um and gives you plenty time to get ready
36:44
without rushing. Exactly. Okay. You don't want to rush on on that day. You don't want to add extra extra
36:49
stress. Rushing causes stress. Yeah. And then also again with the planning on the on the day, try and wake
36:56
up for tahud. Read your salah on time. Make sure you wake up if not for taj then for fud on time.
37:02
Especially for fud. Yeah. [laughter] And if you're writing in the afternoon like I said then read your dua or your
37:08
du or whatever it is before um you go to the exam venue inshallah
37:14
um again fuel your body so eat a good meal whether it's in the morning or
37:19
whenever you're writing even if it's small to give you energy a very big meal you just need to eat make sure you eat
37:26
healthy and nutritious healthy don't eat something in moderation like that's going to make you
37:32
go to the bathroom or feel tired afterwards. So, don't eat something heavy. And then
37:38
stay hydrated. Yes. Right. Um I know most exam venues they allow you to take a clear water bottle
37:44
as well. So, if you can take one of those in if you're permitted to and then you have you can stay hydrated
37:51
during the exam as well. But don't over like just take a few sips at a time.
37:56
drink toilet and then that's another
38:07
arrive early. Give yourself time to get to the exam room to avoid last minute panic. Okay. Always make sure you know
38:14
if you're writing at at 8:00, be at the venue at 7:00. If there's traffic in the
38:20
morning as well. Yes. Yes, [laughter] definitely. especially now with the with the G20
38:26
summit and all these things happening in Johannesburg. So, make sure that um you plan for all that. Um and then stay
38:35
calm. Use your relaxation techniques like your deep breathing and all that. Um if you start to feel anxious,
38:41
yes, normalize doing your deep breathing breathing while you're in the exam, you
38:47
know, go like this in, hold it for a few seconds, and then out. Yeah. so that other students also
38:54
learn from that and they also feel like it's okay I can you know I can do this and the deep breathing really um there's
39:02
proven results that it does help you to reduce stress or release stress actually but but also the the duas if you read
39:09
the duas or you read three and you know while you're reading those things you're
39:14
actually reducing your stress so so that as well is part of your relaxation
39:21
techniques Mhm. is um you know reading constantly. Yeah. Um stay positive.
39:28
Remind yourself that the pressure will end and focus on what you know. Okay. Don't don't go and speak to people
39:34
and listen to what they to cuz I know before an exam there's always groups of people and they're like do you know this
39:39
part or do you know that part? Just stay clear from [laughter] them. Um
39:45
but at the same time I feel like there's also some students who don't care at all. So I think they should care a
39:52
little. Don't you think? No, you have to care a little. But what I'm saying is sometimes it can be again
39:58
it one one size doesn't fit all. So it could be that you um you might say, "Oh,
40:05
I didn't go over that." And then listen to the group that's talking about that chapter or topic or whatever it is. Or
40:11
sometimes it's just going to confuse you. Yes. Um so you know it depends on on the
40:17
type of person that you are cuz maybe you work better in a group and you know you bounce off ideas before the exam and
40:23
whatever it is um you know then then that's fine and if you know that you do get um
40:29
flustered or frustrated when there's extra and you feel overwhelmed then rather stay clear of people. Um is yeah
40:37
that's really nice tips. We have this habit of not checking our messages. Do you have anything? Oh yes, I do have a
40:44
message here. Um, let me just check here. Okay, while you um looking for that,
40:50
someone sent in a dua for increasing memory. And I'm not sure how we forgot to mention this one because this is this
40:57
is something that um I I taught you and it's also very good to say. Do you want
41:02
to say it or must I read it? Uh, you can I must read it. Oh, subhan.
41:08
Subhanaka.
41:18
Okay, I'll read it.
41:27
Glory be to you. We have no knowledge except what you have taught us. Verily, it is you, the all knower, the all wise.
41:34
And this one is from Surah Bakar. Okay. And then jazakah for sending that
41:41
through. We've also got a message here. It says for those who are studying for the final exams, always put Allah in
41:47
front. No matter how much difficulty you're in, always turn to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. That's from brother
41:54
Omar Khan from Ireland. Oh, all the way in Ireland. I wonder what's the Alhamdulillah. I
41:59
wonder what's the weather like there. Is it? You think it would be rainy? No, I don't know. We can ask him.
42:04
Okay. [laughter] Okay. Shukran for that and Shukran for sharing for our listeners for sharing
