Alhamdulillah, we have passed through the first 10 days of Ramadan. It's now the second 10 days and we should
1:26
1 minute, 26 seconds
constantly read and continue reading
1:38
1 minute, 38 seconds
and between usually we have a theme every week but
1:47
1 minute, 47 seconds
last week we didn't get through all that we wanted to discuss. So today in the program we are going to mix it up a bit.
1:57
1 minute, 57 seconds
There is some big announcements in the tech world. We continue our chat from last week with regards to mental health
2:05
2 minutes, 5 seconds
and lifestyle during Ramadan. And after the half hour we hear from educator auntie Rahana say inshallah. But let's
2:14
2 minutes, 14 seconds
start with some of the top stories this week.
2:18
2 minutes, 18 seconds
Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S26 series, S26, S26 Plus, and
2:25
2 minutes, 25 seconds
S26 Ultra, focusing heavily on proactive and adaptive AI integration.
2:33
2 minutes, 33 seconds
Here's a summary of the key highlights from the announcement.
2:38
2 minutes, 38 seconds
So, the first thing that changed is the performance and hardware. There's a custom chipset. The S26 Ultra features
2:44
2 minutes, 44 seconds
the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform for Galaxy, boasting a 19% CPU,
2:52
2 minutes, 52 seconds
39% NPU, and 24% GPU performance increase over previous models. The
3:00
3 minutes
thermal management is a redesigned vapor chamber with side positioned thermal material ensures the device stays cool during heavy gaming or multitasking.
3:12
3 minutes, 12 seconds
charging. They introduced a super fast charging 3.0 capable of reach reaching a 75% charge in just 30 minutes.
3:23
3 minutes, 23 seconds
One of the big things is the advanced display and the privacy display. So, the S26 Ultra introduced the industry's first built-in hardware privacy display.
3:34
3 minutes, 34 seconds
It limits side angle visibility for bystanders while maintaining clarity for the user and can be set to activate
3:41
3 minutes, 41 seconds
automatically for sensitive apps or password entries. So you don't have to worry about your child sitting over your shoulder and trying to look at your messages anymore.
3:52
3 minutes, 52 seconds
Longevity. Samsung is committing to 7 years of security updates.
3:59
3 minutes, 59 seconds
Proactive Galaxy AI features is the now and nudge and now brief. These features
4:06
4 minutes, 6 seconds
anticipate user needs such as suggesting photos to share when a friend asks or recommending exercise playlists based on the user's schedule.
4:16
4 minutes, 16 seconds
In terms of AI agents, deep integration with Bixby, Gemini, and Pipexity allows for multi-step tasks like booking a taxi via voice or a single button.
4:30
4 minutes, 30 seconds
So, circle to search, they've carried on with that, upgraded to recognize multiple objects simultaneously in a single image.
4:39
4 minutes, 39 seconds
In terms of the camera and creative tools, there's enhanced optics, wider apertures, improve low light, your
4:46
4 minutes, 46 seconds
nighttography that they call it, and zoomed in shots.
4:51
4 minutes, 51 seconds
Photo Assist and Creative Studio. Users can edit photos by simply describing changes, like example changing your
4:58
4 minutes, 58 seconds
outfit or make it night. It can also generatively fix images like filling in a bite taken out of a cake. So, they've
5:07
5 minutes, 7 seconds
just added on to um what they already had with the photo assisted generative fixing images. Professional video. The
5:16
5 minutes, 16 seconds
Ultra model supports APV, a professional-grade video codec for high quality post production. Pre-orders have
5:23
5 minutes, 23 seconds
started from the 26th of February until the 19th of March 2026 with pricing
5:31
5 minutes, 31 seconds
starting from the Galaxy S26 at 20,999
5:38
5 minutes, 38 seconds
rand. the Galaxy S26 Plus at 25,999
5:44
5 minutes, 44 seconds
rand and the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be 30,999 rand.
5:54
5 minutes, 54 seconds
So, if we were to compare the new Galaxy S26 series to last year's S25 series, um there's not much of an improvement.
6:04
6 minutes, 4 seconds
uh specifically there's the battery life, the charging speeds and a shift towards a higher base storage.
6:12
6 minutes, 12 seconds
There is quite an considerable amount um in the price increase. So it's moved from about
6:20
6 minutes, 20 seconds
approximately a,000 rand to 2,000 rand per model. So if you look at the uh S25,
6:28
6 minutes, 28 seconds
it moved from the standard from 199 to 209.
6:33
6 minutes, 33 seconds
The plus moved from 2349 to 259 and the Ultra moved from 289 to 309.
6:43
6 minutes, 43 seconds
Um, in terms of display and size, the standard S26 screen has grown slightly
6:49
6 minutes, 49 seconds
to 6.3 in. So, up from the 6.2 in of the S25, the Ultra now sits at a massive 6.9
6:58
6 minutes, 58 seconds
in. Then obviously like we spoke about the privacy tech um that wasn't available on the S25 Ultra and the
7:06
7 minutes, 6 seconds
hardware level tech prevents people next to you from seeing your screen. So that's the privacy display. the power in
7:13
7 minutes, 13 seconds
the battery. Um, the S26 jumped to 4,300 milliamps from 4,000 milliamps on the S25.
7:24
7 minutes, 24 seconds
And the S26 Ultra remains at 5,000, but adds super fast charging 3.0, which is
7:32
7 minutes, 32 seconds
significantly faster than the S25 Ultra's charging curve.
7:38
7 minutes, 38 seconds
storage standards. The base S25 still offered a 128 gig version. Uh 2026,
7:46
7 minutes, 46 seconds
Samsung has scrapped the 128 gig entry level, 256 gigs is now the minimum for the entire S26 lineup.
7:55
7 minutes, 55 seconds
In terms of cameras, um, while the megapixel count, 50 megapixels for base, 200 megapixels for ultra
8:04
8 minutes, 4 seconds
remain the same, the S26 Ultra has wider apertures to pull in more light and a new professional video codec APV that the S25 series did not have.
8:17
8 minutes, 17 seconds
So, is it worth the upgrade? I think if you already have the ultra model of the S25, the performance gap isn't massive
8:26
8 minutes, 26 seconds
for the daily tasks and the S25 still will get most of the new AI features via
8:32
8 minutes, 32 seconds
software updates. We using the S23 Ultra and we've already got the updates that the S25 Ultra had. So, you're not going
8:42
8 minutes, 42 seconds
to be left in the dark with that. And if you upgrade to the S26, um I think maybe if you frequently work
8:51
8 minutes, 51 seconds
in public and want the privacy display, then obviously that's something. Or if you felt the base S25 was too small and
8:59
8 minutes, 59 seconds
had a okay battery life, the S26 bigger screen and battery addresses exactly those points. So last week um we didn't
9:09
9 minutes, 9 seconds
get to talk about the eight tips to look after your mental health for Ramadan. Um we know that mental health during
9:18
9 minutes, 18 seconds
Ramadan can shift significantly because we fasting. There's a lot of changes during Ramadan as well. And we're trying
9:26
9 minutes, 26 seconds
to obviously be more spiritual and deepen our relationship and connection with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Um
9:36
9 minutes, 36 seconds
but there's lots of habits and routine that changes. So we fasting um we obviously want to make more ibada. We
9:45
9 minutes, 45 seconds
reading the Quran more and we also may spend a little bit more time with our family, friends and community and try to practice uh doing more charitable work.
9:57
9 minutes, 57 seconds
And these changes can affect our mental health in different ways. So um we just want to look at eight tips to look after
10:06
10 minutes, 6 seconds
your mental health during Ramadan. So one is to look after your physical health. Physical and mental health are closely linked. Looking after your body
10:14
10 minutes, 14 seconds
can help your mind just as looking after your mind can help your body. So make sure that you eat healthily.
10:22
10 minutes, 22 seconds
Okay. Um there's obviously the sunnah foods that are good that will help you to um you know have a balanced diet, a
10:32
10 minutes, 32 seconds
nutritious diet. So we know that stuff like dates, cucumbers, um those are also foods that actually
10:41
10 minutes, 41 seconds
help with your digestive system. Almonds as well are quite good to have um for
10:48
10 minutes, 48 seconds
siri and obviously read the information of what are the nutritional value of the
10:56
10 minutes, 56 seconds
things that you are eating during Ramadan and then don't forget about water uh you need to stay hydrated so
11:03
11 minutes, 3 seconds
drink as much water during siri and ifar and uh during tarawi and after tarawi inshallah number two is to look after your sleep.
11:15
11 minutes, 15 seconds
So, we know that um Darawi finishes quite late and we have to wake up again early for Siri, but try and and
11:24
11 minutes, 24 seconds
you obviously have that short window period, but try and and you know get that sleep in if you're fortunate enough
11:32
11 minutes, 32 seconds
try and also change your routine. If you can have a nap in the afternoon uh just beforear cuz you know you're coming home
11:40
11 minutes, 40 seconds
from work uh then there's that as well.
11:46
11 minutes, 46 seconds
Number three is connect with others uh during Ramadan. So Ramadan is a time to connect with family, friends and the
11:53
11 minutes, 53 seconds
community and this could help. So if you are feeling a bit low, depressed or you
12:01
12 minutes, 1 second
know you're not feeling okay, this is a time where people are there and they should be there all the time but this is
12:08
12 minutes, 8 seconds
a time where um the masids are full. there's lots of people to talk to to engage with and um
12:17
12 minutes, 17 seconds
maybe someone could just listen to you know what you are going through or maybe they have something else that they also
12:26
12 minutes, 26 seconds
relate to and they could also uh chat to you about it and you could find a solution inshallah
12:36
12 minutes, 36 seconds
number four is talk to people if you're struggling or need help so like I said there's lots of people even if it's not
12:45
12 minutes, 45 seconds
um within the community there could be uh I'm talking about like in the masid there are help lines as well we did
12:54
12 minutes, 54 seconds
speak speak about them before Islamic care line Islamic helpline those are just a few that you can contact or your
13:02
13 minutes, 2 seconds
local um imam molana or uh malimas that are qualified to talk
13:12
13 minutes, 12 seconds
through these um your difficult situations. Inshallah they will be able to assist. Number five, be kind and do
13:21
13 minutes, 21 seconds
good deeds. So sometimes it's it's a bit rewarding because you are doing something um worthy
13:30
13 minutes, 30 seconds
noteworthy uh whether it's a charitable action or you just helping like maybe uh to assist
13:38
13 minutes, 38 seconds
to to pack a Ramadan hamper or Eid hamper and those things uh might give you the confidence that you need or
13:46
13 minutes, 46 seconds
might make you feel good. It usually does make people feel good when they do random acts of kindness.
13:54
13 minutes, 54 seconds
Number six, write down your reflections and feelings. So, Ramadan is a spiritual month that involves personal reflection
14:01
14 minutes, 1 second
and growth. So, it's nice to just write down uh I know some people have like a Ramadan journal where they write down um
14:09
14 minutes, 9 seconds
what they eat or what they do or how far they are in the Quran or what suras they learned. And those things are also quite
14:17
14 minutes, 17 seconds
nice because you can uh the next year go back and look at it and say, "Wow, I've really made an improvement during the
14:25
14 minutes, 25 seconds
year as well and this Ramadan is going to be even better than the next, inshallah." Number seven is set realistic goals and
14:34
14 minutes, 34 seconds
don't compare yourself to others. So if you want to um for example finish a
14:40
14 minutes, 40 seconds
katam in in the month of Ramadan then don't compare yourself to somebody that's finished five katams or if you
14:48
14 minutes, 48 seconds
want to learn five new suras during the month of Ramadan and you hear that someone is alhamdulillah completed uh
14:57
14 minutes, 57 seconds
memorizing the whole Quran it it sometimes becomes a um not a burden but
15:05
15 minutes, 5 seconds
it becomes difficult because you are comparing yourself to others and everyone has a different routine.
15:11
15 minutes, 11 seconds
Everyone has a different lifestyle. So even you know don't judge the the people that leave after eight raas during
15:19
15 minutes, 19 seconds
tarawi. um you know, they they might have a night shift that they have to go and work to or they might have had a
15:27
15 minutes, 27 seconds
long day or they might have struggled um during the day with with their fasting or they might have a family that they need to go back to.
15:36
15 minutes, 36 seconds
And there's lots of things that um you know could be going through everyone's life and we must just be kind and make it easy for everyone and for yourself.
15:48
15 minutes, 48 seconds
So set realistic goals. Inshallah you will be able to uh attain all those that
15:55
15 minutes, 55 seconds
you want to. And then lastly is keep an open mind to learning. So there's many opportunities to learn during Ramadan.
16:04
16 minutes, 4 seconds
Um there's lots of talks in the massagid uh be after m sometimes um before isha
16:12
16 minutes, 12 seconds
after isha salah afterawi um after faj in the morning. There's some local masids that have those
16:19
16 minutes, 19 seconds
programs as well. Even over the weekends, sometimes they would have a a program as well. So, so contact your
16:26
16 minutes, 26 seconds
local massagid, find out when are the programs and participate in them. Uh
16:33
16 minutes, 33 seconds
there's also a lot of apps and websites, platforms that are spreading a lot of information, but make sure that the
16:40
16 minutes, 40 seconds
information that you are receiving is authenticated. it is um you know uh valid information uh because there's a
16:49
16 minutes, 49 seconds
lot of stuff going around on social media that isn't correct. So just make sure that you do if you even watching
16:57
16 minutes, 57 seconds
like a short video um to learn more then make sure that those things are um the right sources inshallah.
17:07
17 minutes, 7 seconds
So I hope that was a bit beneficial inshallah.

and inspired. Her approach blends strong traditional foundations with innovative

19:41

19:51
19 minutes, 51 seconds
I hope you are keeping well inshallah shukran for joining us today and giving us an insight into being an educator in an Islamic environment.
20:04
20 minutes, 4 seconds
Now Raana am I right in assuming that working in an Islamic environment there
20:10
20 minutes, 10 seconds
would be loads of advantages like adjusted times and lesser workloads during Ramadan.
20:18
20 minutes, 18 seconds
Wikum salami and of course shukran to you for the opportunity on your level up show. Alhamdulillah.
20:28
20 minutes, 28 seconds
Let's get right into it. Yes. The advantages of working in an Islamic environment during Ramadan.
20:35
20 minutes, 35 seconds
I would say that working in an Islamic environment is honestly a blessing. Alhamdulillah.
20:42
20 minutes, 42 seconds
At the school where I teach, Ramadan is felt everywhere. In the corridors, on the bulletin boards, in the classrooms,
20:49
20 minutes, 49 seconds
and most beautifully in the hearts of the children. The school environment supports the ibada of both staff and
20:57
20 minutes, 57 seconds
learners. Yes, our times are adjusted slightly and that makes a big difference, especially in Durban's heat.
21:05
21 minutes, 5 seconds
The workload isn't necessarily less, but it becomes more intentional. There's a softer pace. We have a mindful of energy
21:14
21 minutes, 14 seconds
levels, hydration, and emotional well-being. The mornings begin with Quran reading and that sets the tone for
21:23
21 minutes, 23 seconds
the entire day. There's such a calmness when our little voices recite together.
21:29
21 minutes, 29 seconds
Uh the Rawi is also performed at the venue every evening which strengthens that link between school, home, and the
21:37
21 minutes, 37 seconds
masjid atmosphere. And Ramadan at school feels like one extended family preparing for Jenna together.
21:48
21 minutes, 48 seconds
Inshallah. Amen. That sounds absolutely lovely. Alhamdulillah. I love that the
21:56
21 minutes, 56 seconds
mornings begin with the little ones reading Quran. I know that that really does set the tone for the day. And it
22:03
22 minutes, 3 seconds
just sounds like there's a peaceful yet spiritual feeling which is exactly what Ramadan is all about. Alhamdulillah.
22:12
22 minutes, 12 seconds
Now Raana, I'm hearing that I'm wondering is there any challenges for you in the environment?
22:21
22 minutes, 21 seconds
Yes, of course I think there are challenges because we are all human. Uh but uh Devon is hot and when you're
22:29
22 minutes, 29 seconds
monitoring seven and eight year olds who are trying their very first fast, you have to be extremely vigilant. That's
22:36
22 minutes, 36 seconds
why we use fasting badges so staff and even learners are aware of who is fasting and it helps us monitor them
22:44
22 minutes, 44 seconds
gently especially during break times or outdoor movement. Energy levels do dip of course. Uh emotions can be
22:53
22 minutes, 53 seconds
heightened. Uh sometimes little ones are tired and don't fully understand why they're very irritable but as teachers
23:00
23 minutes
we have to respond with extra rahma. Uh because Ramadan becomes a test of our sub too. But truly the spiritual atmosphere outweighs the challenges.
23:13
23 minutes, 13 seconds
Alhamdulillah.
23:15
23 minutes, 15 seconds
Alhamdulillah that is so true and that it is a test of sabar. But Raana, how
23:22
23 minutes, 22 seconds
are the children impacted whether positively or negatively during Ramadan?
23:29
23 minutes, 29 seconds
Niha, all I can say is that the positive impact is profound. Ramadan shapes a child's Muslim identity in a way few
23:38
23 minutes, 38 seconds
other months can. They see their teachers fasting, they see their parents fasting, they hear the adan for and fortar, and they feel that excitement.
23:50
23 minutes, 50 seconds
They participate in morning Quran reading. Uh not forgetting the sahur time that they wake up when they're all
23:57
23 minutes, 57 seconds
sleepy. And of course that mommy that's saying please eat that banana. Just please please. Um I also feel that there
24:06
24 minutes, 6 seconds
are some little ones who attend the for us. We have a tracker where our little learners can track their salah, their
24:15
24 minutes, 15 seconds
fast and their good deeds on this Ramadan tracker chart.
24:19
24 minutes, 19 seconds
And um it gives them the opportunity where we can see visual growth and it builds ownership of their ibada and they
24:28
24 minutes, 28 seconds
begin to see themselves as young Muslims striving for Jenna inshallah.
24:34
24 minutes, 34 seconds
We also have an E treasure chest campaign where learners create a box and they design a box for another child uh
24:43
24 minutes, 43 seconds
that is less fortunate and inside that box it's filled with essential items and small toys and I feel that this teaches
24:52
24 minutes, 52 seconds
them that Ramadan is not just about hunger it's about generosity empathy and community responsibility
25:00
25 minutes
negatively I think that sometimes concentration dips especially in the latter part of the day. But that's
25:08
25 minutes, 8 seconds
natural and I feel that as a teacher it's important that we adjust expectations slightly. So I incorporate
25:17
25 minutes, 17 seconds
quieter tasks, more reflection and hands-on crafts instead of heavy academic drills for that part of the
25:24
25 minutes, 24 seconds
day. Ramadan of course teaches us that education is not only about academic and it's spiritual and emotional too.
25:34
25 minutes, 34 seconds
Wow, I completely love that.
25:36
25 minutes, 36 seconds
Alhamdulillah. I like that you incorporate quieter tasks and reflections during the afternoon and
25:44
25 minutes, 44 seconds
that it also sounds that like that the the positive impacts outweigh the negatives.
25:52
25 minutes, 52 seconds
Um, Raana, do you have any advice for the children or do you have advice for the parents to implement for their
25:59
25 minutes, 59 seconds
children to make it easier for them to concentrate during Ramadan?
26:06
26 minutes, 6 seconds
Firstly, Nabiha, I think that it's important to start small for especially for younger children. Many fasts are
26:13
26 minutes, 13 seconds
beautiful fast until break time or until Zohar time. It just means that they build their stamina gradually and they
26:22
26 minutes, 22 seconds
celebrate effort and not perfection especially at those little ages. for parents um ways that they could make it
26:30
26 minutes, 30 seconds
easier to concentrate during Ramadan is of course to ensure balanced su of protein of slow release carbs and
26:37
26 minutes, 37 seconds
hydration to encourage an earlier bedtime um especially if the kids are not going to the
26:46
26 minutes, 46 seconds
course to limit uh screen time and I'm very passionate about that and then to keep mornings calm and positive at
26:55
26 minutes, 55 seconds
school I think it's important important that we encourage our children to make hudoo when they feel tired to include quiet zikar to take short breathing
27:03
27 minutes, 3 seconds
pauses to remember their intention I am fasting for Allah's pleasure I feel that when a child connects fasting to the
27:12
27 minutes, 12 seconds
love of Allah then concentration becomes easier because their purpose is more clear
27:20
27 minutes, 20 seconds
alhamdulillah that is really really good advice even for us adults to remember you know when we need to remember our
27:28
27 minutes, 28 seconds
intentions so that it makes our fast go well and to also make woodoo when we are feeling tired. Um Rihanna, do you have
27:36
27 minutes, 36 seconds
any advice for other teachers or educators whether they're Muslim or non-Muslim?
27:45
27 minutes, 45 seconds
To our Muslim educators, I'm going to say it's important to lead with the gentleness. Ramadan is not about
27:52
27 minutes, 52 seconds
pressure. It's about planting seeds. By growing our children's Muslim identity, children will remember how Ramadan felt
27:59
27 minutes, 59 seconds
in your classroom long after they forgot those worksheets that you did with them.
28:05
28 minutes, 5 seconds
To our educators of other faiths, Ramadan is a beautiful opportunity to show inclusivity and respect. Simple
28:15
28 minutes, 15 seconds
accommodations like being mindful during food breaks or allowing quieter spaces mean a lot to the Muslim kids out there.
28:24
28 minutes, 24 seconds
Even asking a child how is your fast going builds their belonging in a society or in a country where it's all
28:32
28 minutes, 32 seconds
about um tolerance and respect uh for uh all religions. Alhamdulillah. So
28:39
28 minutes, 39 seconds
education during Ramadan is all about empathy to me.
28:44
28 minutes, 44 seconds
Subhan Allah. That as well is such good advice. And I like that you concentrate more on feeling and empathy because
28:53
28 minutes, 53 seconds
children really do remember moments and feelings more than things. So Rihanna, before you go, is there anything else
29:03
29 minutes, 3 seconds
that you would like to share or that you think would be beneficial to our listeners?
29:09
29 minutes, 9 seconds
Nabiha, I think that what makes Ramadan special in an Islamic school is the link between home and school. When children
29:18
29 minutes, 18 seconds
see the same values reinforced in both spaces, Quran, salah, charity, kindness, their Muslim identity strengthens
29:27
29 minutes, 27 seconds
naturally. Uh, our foundation phase that we have where teachers volunteer their time is always so emotional to me.
29:36
29 minutes, 36 seconds
Watching little ones break their fast together, making dua with tiny hands raised. It reminds us why we do what we
29:44
29 minutes, 44 seconds
do. For me, Ramadan is not just a month in our school calendar. It's a living classroom of faith. And in a city like
29:54
29 minutes, 54 seconds
Durban where it's warm and humidity levels are extremely high, our children learn something powerful that even in heat, we can rise in faith.
30:05
30 minutes, 5 seconds
Alhamdulillah. So I do want to end by saying shukran to you for the opportunity. Once again, Ramadan Mubarak
30:12
30 minutes, 12 seconds
to all our families out there. May we raise children who love Allah not out of fear but out of deep connection and joy.
30:21
30 minutes, 21 seconds
Inshallah.
30:24
30 minutes, 24 seconds
Amen. I love that dua. That is very powerful. The fact that home and school values should be linked. And I
30:32
30 minutes, 32 seconds
absolutely love the values that sister Raana has shared here and the picture that she has created in my mind. One of
30:40
30 minutes, 40 seconds
peace and baraka and spirituality all coming together in an educational environment. Alhamdulillah
30:50
30 minutes, 50 seconds
to sister Rihanna for taking the time to share all of that with us. amazing advice enlightening and and enlightening
30:58
30 minutes, 58 seconds
us into the world of Ramadan in an Islamic educational environment. Alhamdulillah.
31:05
31 minutes, 5 seconds
So for our listeners who want to learn more, you can find Sister Rahana on Instagram with the handle @ creative classroom concepts. That's all one word.
31:16
31 minutes, 16 seconds
Creative C R E A T I V classroom. C L A S R O M C O and concepts is C O N C E ps all one word. Alhamdulillah.
31:29
31 minutes, 29 seconds
Alhamdulillah. That is some really good advice from sister Raana. And I hopefully and I think it is quite
31:36
31 minutes, 36 seconds
beneficial to educators, parents and kids during the month of Ramadan. Inshallah.
31:44
31 minutes, 44 seconds
So we have a uh someone who's in corporate. Are you in corporate Issa? No.
31:51
31 minutes, 51 seconds
No. So, we have a little one who has been um fasting during the month of Ramadan for quite a few years now. Isa, when did you start uh fasting?
32:03
32 minutes, 3 seconds
I started from the time I was four.
32:05
32 minutes, 5 seconds
Alhamdulillah. And why why did you start when you were four? Did your parents force you to to start fasting?
32:12
32 minutes, 12 seconds
No, I just used to see you uh I just used to see you wake up early in the
32:18
32 minutes, 18 seconds
morning and then I would eat also then and then like not eat during the day and like that's why.
32:27
32 minutes, 27 seconds
Okay. But did you know why we were waking up? Or you just thought these parents of mine are very strange and they're waking up so early in the
32:34
32 minutes, 34 seconds
morning and they're making me only eat one meal early in the morning and then another meal late in the afternoon. Did
32:42
32 minutes, 42 seconds
you think it was strange or did you know what was happening?
32:46
32 minutes, 46 seconds
I don't actually know at that time what was happening.
32:51
32 minutes, 51 seconds
Okay. And um then you used to go for tawi as well uh from the time you were like also like 4 years old.
33:01
33 minutes, 1 second
Yeah.
33:01
33 minutes, 1 second
And then what what did you think was happening then?
33:05
33 minutes, 5 seconds
Um I was still like not sure not sure but you used to even uh though
33:13
33 minutes, 13 seconds
you didn't know how to make salah properly um you used to do all the actions and you used to stand for the
33:21
33 minutes, 21 seconds
full 20 rakas I remember mashallah and um and now you you you get a bit tired after after eight rakas.
33:32
33 minutes, 32 seconds
Yeah. Yeah.
33:35
33 minutes, 35 seconds
But I think as you get older, um, you're burning a lot more energy. You you're doing a lot of work. So then you you
33:42
33 minutes, 42 seconds
used to, alhamdulillah, sleep a lot. Now you're very active and you hardly nap and um hardly sleep. And you obviously
33:51
33 minutes, 51 seconds
your body is changing. So you also um you know you you you getting to the age now where fasting is becoming compulsory. How old are you now?
34:01
34 minutes, 1 second
11.
34:02
34 minutes, 2 seconds
11 years old. So, fasting is becoming going to become compulsory for you. Um, so, you know, I'm sure the teenagers who are listening, they know what it's like.
34:14
34 minutes, 14 seconds
uh waking up early, getting their parents to wake them up because they don't want to wake up so early in the morning and then you know still going to
34:23
34 minutes, 23 seconds
school and trying to get that nap in um between fajger and going to school and
34:30
34 minutes, 30 seconds
you know like just dozing off and then your parents waking you up again to get ready for school and then of course coming home and then it's and then going
34:39
34 minutes, 39 seconds
for tarawi and trying your best and it's very difficult we know to try and do the 20 ra and it's
34:48
34 minutes, 48 seconds
um but we all try our best to read the 20 raqas because we want to listen to the Quran and there's some beautiful
34:54
34 minutes, 54 seconds
recitations from some of the uh huas around the country um you can if you can't make it to the masid especially
35:03
35 minutes, 3 seconds
for the sisters there is the smart bilal app where you can log into most of the local uh massages or you can listen to
35:11
35 minutes, 11 seconds
some of the others um around the country.
35:16
35 minutes, 16 seconds
I just wanted to say, you know, uh from the time he's been born, he hardly sleeps and he Issa he um wakes up really
35:24
35 minutes, 24 seconds
really early. And I'm just wondering that now as he gets older and when it does become um compulsory, I'm actually
35:33
35 minutes, 33 seconds
wondering or worrying that he's going to not want to wake up as early and then I'm going to have to, you know, waking
35:41
35 minutes, 41 seconds
up for su. Um and the other thing is I think Issa isn't it during the years obviously you started fasting um when
35:50
35 minutes, 50 seconds
you were four because you you saw us not eating but I'm sure like during the years you you realize what we are doing
35:58
35 minutes, 58 seconds
and um why we're doing this. Yes, I did start to realize like why you were fast
36:08
36 minutes, 8 seconds
like fasting and not eating during the day and yeah alhamdulillah but I think Nabia um
36:16
36 minutes, 16 seconds
he alhamdulillah does wake up on his own now still for for so inshallah it won't be a problem u
36:25
36 minutes, 25 seconds
we're making positive duas here that he continues to and I think um you know People always say they're too young,
36:33
36 minutes, 33 seconds
they shouldn't fast, but it does uh a friend of mine said it it builds that resilience and I think sister Rahana as
36:40
36 minutes, 40 seconds
well mentioned that that you know that that um you know it's an achievement for them even if it's a half day fast even
36:49
36 minutes, 49 seconds
if it's a few hours um they learn that you know this is what what life is there
36:56
36 minutes, 56 seconds
this endurance you know and they learned it from a young age even If like he says when he was four years old, he didn't know what it was about, why he was doing
37:05
37 minutes, 5 seconds
it, but then as you grow older and I mean some of us uh are very old and we don't know why we do certain things and
37:13
37 minutes, 13 seconds
then we learn about it and they are you know class adult classes where we can go back and learn cuz maybe we didn't know
37:20
37 minutes, 20 seconds
some of the things um that we were taught during madrasa but we do them.
37:24
37 minutes, 24 seconds
Alhamdulillah we do them but we don't know why. Um and in in the same way I think as they grow older um they start
37:33
37 minutes, 33 seconds
to to realize they start to ask ask questions why uh do we fast the whole day why do we go for tarawi you know um
37:42
37 minutes, 42 seconds
why is it good to give charity during Ramadan those certain things and um it's good to start at at a young age and them
37:52
37 minutes, 52 seconds
to see us doing those actions because then it It strengthens their relationship with
37:59
37 minutes, 59 seconds
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and gives them love for the month of Ramadan.
38:05
38 minutes, 5 seconds
Inshallah I mean I like that you said that you know they start to ask questions because that's actually a very important thing. You know we should
38:12
38 minutes, 12 seconds
actually start worrying when they stop asking questions or when they don't ask the questions altogether. So it's good.
38:19
38 minutes, 19 seconds
Let their questions keep on coming and inshallah may Allah guide us to the to say the right things at the right time. Inshallah.
38:27
38 minutes, 27 seconds
Inshallah. Amen. Isa do you have any advice for the kids uh who are listening whether it's your age, a little bit
38:35
38 minutes, 35 seconds
older, younger. Um how do you get through the day uh during Ramadan?
38:41
38 minutes, 41 seconds
So like say like it's just the night before Ramadan starts then
38:49
38 minutes, 49 seconds
I say I make an intention and I say oh I intend waking up for sahur and then I
38:59
38 minutes, 59 seconds
wake up for sahur. I have like whatever like dates and water and sometimes
39:06
39 minutes, 6 seconds
fruits or you know like some something that can like nourish my body before and
39:14
39 minutes, 14 seconds
then then uh then I then maybe then I'll read faj and then
39:23
39 minutes, 23 seconds
um yeah so then then after that then
39:30
39 minutes, 30 seconds
I get then I do whatever I do and then yeah.
39:37
39 minutes, 37 seconds
Okay. Alhamdulillah. I like that you nourish your body. So then you you obviously like you say you read faj and then you get to doing your school work
39:45
39 minutes, 45 seconds
and then it's the end of the day and how do you get through um the day you know like not eating. Don't you get tired and
39:54
39 minutes, 54 seconds
hungry? And because you I I know that you uh during
40:00
40 minutes
the day you like to munch a lot while you're working and while you you're doing your stuff. So how is it uh that
40:08
40 minutes, 8 seconds
during Ramadan? Is it just because you make an intention?
40:13
40 minutes, 13 seconds
Um it's not just because I make an intention. It's also because um I try
40:22
40 minutes, 22 seconds
not to think of food. Well, like during the day so that I don't feel
40:38
40 minutes, 38 seconds
okay. So that that's a that's a good thing. Not thinking about food. Also, uh you're too young, so you don't go on social media, so you don't see people
40:45
40 minutes, 45 seconds
posting pictures of uh food or recipes during the day.
40:50
40 minutes, 50 seconds
Um, and then when you break fast, is there anything specific that you like to have? Um
41:00
41 minutes
um I if there's like stuff that I like that's on the table then I break with
41:09
41 minutes, 9 seconds
water dates and then if there is then like booksh and you know the haleem and
41:17
41 minutes, 17 seconds
you know all those kind of things. It just sounds like um he'll eat whatever is there.
41:25
41 minutes, 25 seconds
But I only get dates and water. So I think um his parents are only feeding him dates and water. So then after um m after you have ifar is anything you do.
41:37
41 minutes, 37 seconds
So then after m then I have like I have a walk so that my food digests and then
41:46
41 minutes, 46 seconds
if I have time then I read some Quran so that um it feeds my soul. Did you know that reading Quran feeds your soul?
41:56
41 minutes, 56 seconds
Alhamdulillah. Subhan Allah. Yes. That's that's so interesting. So this
42:03
42 minutes, 3 seconds
mall um I didn't know that he knew that actually um the reason why I said that Quran
42:11
42 minutes, 11 seconds
feeds your soul is because in last year or the year before one of the Ramadan
42:18
42 minutes, 18 seconds
cam things of this thing called N kids that I've been watching since 2022 but
42:26
42 minutes, 26 seconds
they actually started in 2020 um where one of the episodes was where
42:33
42 minutes, 33 seconds
they were saying um that Quran feeds your soul. Alhamdulillah
42:43
42 minutes, 43 seconds
Issa for sharing that with us. I hope that our listeners find it beneficial.
42:49
42 minutes, 49 seconds
