It's been a busy week. I think let's just get right into it with some of the top stories this week.

Um so we know last week um the war in the Middle East uh started and it

continues affecting many people directly or indirectly and we make dua that Allah protects the innocent and keeps them

safe from harm. Amen. So the conflict between the US and the occupation forces alliance and Iran which escalated

dramatically starting last week on the fee on February the 28th 2026 has produced some remarkable and sometimes

confusing viral moments. So, we're not going to get into too much detail of cuz you've been seeing the videos, you've

been hearing about it, um all the horrific things that have been happening, but there were quite a few um
2 minutes, 28 seconds
I won't say highlights or funny moments cuz it's not really a funny um situation, but uh notable uh events that
2 minutes, 37 seconds
happened. One of them was there was a Iranian uh painter who actually painted
2 minutes, 46 seconds
jets on the airfield. So apparently they uh the Iranian army had moved the jets underground
2 minutes, 55 seconds
um before the war started and they painted jets on the airfield to make it

look like it was real. and the US have spent millions of dollars dropping bombs on these painted objects. So that was
3 minutes, 10 seconds
one of the things that was going around um quite a lot.

So most people have been assuming that um this has been real. You know the painted that there's an Iranian painter

who painted these jets. But there is uh some people who have mentioned that it is AI generated.

That's very interesting because um there was I know a the occupation forces did

say that they they dropped a bomb on a what they thought was a helicopter and

um an Iranian MI17 helicopter but it didn't shatter. So like a metal object

should. So there could be a 2D or 3D decoy or tricks that um the Iranian army

is using. So it's maybe some of it is true, maybe it isn't. We we don't know,

but it's it's been um widely circulated and it's been causing a lot of debate at the moment.

The indestructible BYD at3. One of the most shared civilian stories from the

conflict evolves involves a BYD at3 and electric SUV that survived a missile

strike in Jerusalem on March the 1st, 2026.

So what happened is an Iranian ballistic missile struck a road in Jerusalem

creating a massive crater. The ATO 3 was positioned right at the edge of the impact zone.

remained intact, and the high strength steel cage prevented the cabin from

collapsing. So, in terms of safety, all five occupants survived.

shock wave and shrapnel, the blade battery did not catch fire or suffer thermal runaway, which is a common fear

doors could still be opened manually, allowing with a quick rescue without specialized

cutting equipment. Official response from BYD's general manager Luen famously responded

on social media by stating safety is the ultimate luxury. I'm honestly surprised

because that's something that I feared actually from electric vehicles, EVs, you know that if something had to happen in an accident, the doors won't open or

something won't work and you won't be able to get out. Um, Zed is a motoring journalist and you know someone who has tested lots of EVs. What's your thoughts?

Well, it has happened with quite a few of the Teslas. I know there's like you know those um bumper bashes and it you

know the the cars don't open or people are stuck in the vehicles and stuff. So uh we must commend BYD for you know like

they said the safety is a huge con concern for them and the fact that you know they built such a vehicle that one

um survived a a missile, two it kept everybody safe and three everything was

still working in the vehicle. And I mean we have the privilege now that BY is in South Africa and they have quite a full

range of vehicles but we're not going to get into that. I think what we need to focus on the most and what's most important to us is family and friends

who are stranded in the Middle East uh either working there or they're on business or they had connecting flights

and are now stuck there. May Allah make it easy for them and keep them safe inshallah.

But in terms of the flight situation in the Middle East, it remains critical.

There have been a few uh airlines that have opened up. I know in Dubai, they

are operating at at roughly 25 to 60% capacity. Priority has been given to connecting passengers and those stranded

for the past week. In Doha, it's partially reopened. airspace reopened late Friday for designated navigational

routes, most restricted to repatriation and relief flights. In Abu Dhabi, it's also open. Etiad has resumed a

restricted schedule to approximately 70 destinations.

And in Iran and Iraq, there's total closure. Most airspace remain strictly off limits to civilian traffic until at

least today or tomorrow pending further security reviews.

So Emirates has moved to a mini network operation. They are currently flying to about 83 destinations roughly 60% of

their usual network. Importantly the 6-hour connection rule has been lifted so you can once again transit through

Dubai normally if your flight is confirmed. Qatar Airways their scheduled operations are still officially

suspended but they have launched relief flights today to major cities like London, Paris and Frankfurt to move

stranded passengers and then western carriers like British Airways and Lufansza most are still

avoiding the region entirely or rerouting around the Gulf via Africa or North Asia leading to significantly long flight

times up to 3 to 4 hours extra for Europe to Asia routes. So, one of the uh critical advice for travelers is do not

go to the airport unless you have a confirmed status on your digital boarding pass for a flight departing within the next 4 hours.

Visa overstays. The UAE has officially announced it will wave overstay fines for any travelers stranded specifically

had a cyber security incident earlier this week. So, what happened? There was an unauthorized party who used a

restaurant operator's legitimate login details to gain access to a customer database. The breach was limited to

information stored in a database operated by a third party. The information accessed included customer

names, email addresses, and mobile numbers. Spur immediately stopped the unauthorized activity and has engaged

independent cyber security and legal experts to investigate the matter. While Spur states they have no current

evidence that uh personal information has been misused, they advise being highly vigilant.

They say you uh customers should be on the lookout for unexpected emails, SMSs, or calls asking them to click links,

Inshallah. I mean, I think the MacBook Neo is something definitely worth a look at um in terms of pricing, in terms of

the fact that it's a MacBook and um like they said, it's more for students and educators. So, it's something that is

priced really well. I know uh many years ago Mac uh Apple decided that they were

going to enter the market really well like um kind of take over which they did

and they priced their iPhones, their iPads, their MacBooks at very reasonable prices at the time. I think it was

congestion on Graston Drive, Ravonia Road, and Katherine Street has become a significant parking disaster and a point of tension with the Sandown residents.

The main reasons include the sudden influx of thousands of students and it's overwhelmed the existing road capacity

during these peak hours when they come to campus. Onampus parking is strictly limited to senior students. So that's

the second years and up and postgraduates with permits. This has forced many students to park on

residential side roads like Weber Road or often blocking driveways.

Some residents have criticized the institution for not building underground parking, allegedly to save on construction costs. The JMPD has been

slows down traffic flow as students scrambled to find spots.

uh doing um a car pooling or something in order to get this right or the institution has to build parking

facilities because it's been an absolute nightmare for the residents and for people who are going to work in that

area um over the past few weeks. So that is a developing story. We will obviously

So I could see in the pictures there was cars from all different angles like very

busy on each side of the road trying to get in. Yeah, I think it's um the traffic congestion and I know at Vasti

College Santon there was a lot of traffic congestion because there's not only that campus, there's the Crawford

College as well. So, just going down, but that's a little bit further down in Benmore Gardens and I think it was only

really the um estate that's outside there that was affected. Uh but now this is kind of on a main road and like you

said in the pictures it it showed you know cars everywhere and the JMPD officers not knowing what

to do and obviously there's like they said thousands of students and if each

one of them has a car it's it's ridiculous.

But anyway, um during the month of Ramadan, it's always good to give charity and I

think there's a lot of initiatives that are happening and people should either try and get involved or they can

obviously um you know take advantage of some of the things because there's a lot of people that are struggling that are

below the bread line and um there's initiatives like feeding schemes um just

in local massids like in President Park I know they givear out Nisamia Masid as

well they um have a everyday they give uh ifar out and there's people that in
