5 Days left to enter Fleet Safety Awards

Entries into the 2024 Fleet Safety Awards were meant to close last week, however, new developments necessitated a further extension.

Several new partners joined the Awards and, consequently, the closing date to submit is now 4 October 2024. This is to accommodate the new partners and provide an opportunity to share information on the awards with their databases.

The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says that in addition to new partners joining over the last week, entries continued to increase significantly further supporting the additional extension.

“Adding the extra time does not adversely impact anyone involved in the Awards process but does create an opportunity for leaders in road safety to submit their entry despite the time constraints of daily life."

“Following improvements throughout the entire process, the intention is to avoid prejudicing anyone against submitting their entry but rather provide every opportunity to enter. As the entries increase everyday at a significant rate, we look forward to what 2024 holds for the Fleet Safety Awards.”

While the categories remain similar to that of last year, an area where change is seen is in the prizes that winners receive.

“The main category, ‘Best Fleet Manager,’ will see an increase in the cash prize for the overall winner. ‘Best Organisation’ category will also win a cash prize of R20 000 to be donated to a charitable organisation within the industry. The overall winner of the ‘Road Warrior’ category also receives an increased cash prize."

“The last two categories are not excluded from receiving additional prizes either. The overall winner of ‘Best Employer’ will receive specialised psychometric testing for employees which will guide safety procedures based on specific strengths and weaknesses. Lastly, the winner of ‘Most Improved Truck Stop’ is awarded R20 000 for further improvement of their facilities.”

MasterDrive has also been hinting at something new for the 2024 Awards as well.

“All organisational entrants that have participated over the last two to three years will also be automatically entered into a, thus far, unlisted category which has a cash prize."

“This will reward an organisation that has shown – and can currently show – the most improvement in their efforts to promote fleet safety. The amount allocated to the winning company is R10 000. It is a demonstration that even organisations that may not walk away with top honours are still recognised for the improvements they continually make,”

says Herbert.
