Blue Sky Society Trust Joins the Global #GivingTuesday Movement Pledges to raise R10,000 for wildlife and conservation causes
Blue Sky Society Trust has joined #GivingTuesday, a worldwide day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organisations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
After the spending spree of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Tuesday 28 November kicks off the season of giving by asking people to show a little love for charities like Blue Sky Society Trust, who pay it forward in supporting the work of worthy causes, initiatives and other non-profits. Dedicated to conservation, wildlife protection and community upliftment in Africa, Blue Sky Society is calling on people to perform two small acts of kindness:
1) Donate any amount via Givengain (https://www.givengain.com/cc/givingtuesday2017)
2) Then tag two friends on social media and challenge them to do the same!
By the end of #GivingTuesday, Blue Sky Society Trust hope to have raised R10,000 to support wildlife and conservation causes who need it most, like the Space for Elephants Foundation, who are working right now to prevent human-elephant conflict in the Lebombo Mountains.
“One great mistake a lot of people make on this planet is thinking that somebody else will do it, somebody else will take care of it, somebody else will save the elephants or the rhinos” said Carla Geyser, founder of Blue Sky Society Trust.
“But I have realised that we can’t rely on future generations to save our wildlife – we simply don’t have the time. It has to be us. And it has to be now. So, we’ve joined the #GivingTuesday movement to call on people to help us reach our fundraising goal of R10,000 by donating, and encouraging friends, family and co-workers to do the same.”
“#GivingTuesday allows people the opportunity to get involved, to do something, and I encourage everyone to take part. I believe that every act of kindness can have a positive ripple effect, and even the smallest contribution can make a big difference.”
In 2016, millions of people across 98 countries came together to give back, raising over US$177 million for the causes they believed in. And much more was given in volunteer hours and acts of kindness. #GivingTuesday inspires people to give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they believe in, and help create a better world.
It’s a day that demonstrates how every act of generosity counts, and that they mean even more when people give together. So when the world comes together to give back on 28 November 2017, what will your act of kindness be?
