Following on the success of two years of audience and critical acclaim staging their annual Gala Concerts, the BORN TO PERFORM team are proud to launch a brand new initiative, THE HEADLINERZ at Collett Dawson’s 25th Anniversary & The CoLab Network’s 4th birthday held at The Johannian on Wednesday 22 February, to provide their talented young artists who excel, further opportunities in the entertainment industry.
THE HEADLINERZ is a new music initiative created by Born To Perform, where Teens will get the chance to record and produce original pop music aimed at other Teens.
There are a number of artists signed to Headlinerz so far including, THE BUZZ TEEN BAND, MARIANTHE PANAS (the young 15-year old singing sensation already making waves in the entertainment industry), Joshua Moreira, Philippa Higgins and THE BORN FREE DUO.
All music produced by Headlinerz is clean cut pop music for the TWEEN pop market.
The first act to be launched under The Headlinerz banner is THE BUZZ. Their first single release will be in April and will be a cover of the Sergeant Fu track “Shake Your Ass and Dance” written by Matthew Marinus and Ryno Zeelie.
The Buzz consists of 6 young performers - Jessica Driver, Caitlyn Thomson, Lisa Kriel, Philip Hanly, John Tsenoli and Dihan Schoeman. They are a funky current Teen Pop group with incredible voices to match. In the past year since the creation of the band they have hit the ground running, performing at many corporate events the biggest being the NICKELODEAN FESTIVAL in front of 4000 people and Born To Perform at the Lyric Theatre. Other events include On The Night at St Johns College, Microsoft product launch and the upcoming stadium event for Life Line. T
Later in the year follow up singles by Marianthe Panas with “Here I am” and Joshua Moreira and Philippa Higgins with “Front Row” are planned.
They all hope to fill a gap in the music market by providing music for the youth made in SA by SA young artists.
Born To Perform
Born to Perform was created by Matthew Marinus and Gemma Donnelly Marinus after they saw a huge need for the development of professional opportunities for talented children and teens in South Africa.
They strive to create Theatre, Music and Television platforms for showcasing our amazing young SA talent. Their annual gala event, where local celebs collaborate with talented kids and teens to create a "Royal Variety"-style production, took place at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on the 10th of December 2016.
Implementing the training through their school Stageworx School Of Performing Arts and then being able to give the youth a taster of the professional world of entertainment has lead to the Born To Perform stand outs being offered opportunities in stage musicals, corporate events, music videos and television. This has also spread an awareness across the industry of the young talent that exists here in SA and encourages producers to use this talent in their productions.
The new project stemming from Born To Perform is THE HEADLINERZ. A music initiative where Born To Perform will record and produce original pop music featuring Teens for Teens.
