Bravecto continues to donate thousands of tick and flea protection doses through #BravectoCares campaign
Despite the recent civil unrest and ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Bravecto® was undeterred in its donation of tick and flea protection to national animal welfare organisations as part of its #BravectoCares campaign.
The two latest competition winners included SARAC (Soweto Animal Rescue and Advisory Centre) on 21 July and the Cape Town-based Rescue is Life on 27 July.

“The #BravectoCares campaign originated as a way to assist our dedicated animal non-profit organisations (NPOs) during the pandemic, as many of the traditional fundraising initiatives have been unable to go ahead, and many relied-upon sponsors are unable to assist because of a struggling economy,”
explained Carolyn Chelchinskey, Business Unit Manager at MSD Animal Health, makers of Bravecto®.
“The unrest experienced in Gauteng and KZN has caused further financial distress, which is why we had to ensure the donations continue uninterrupted. I’d like to extend our gratitude to the two most recent winners, as well as our many other animal welfare organisations that continue their sterling work despite these challenges.”
Located in Soweto, which was one of the areas directly impacted by the unrest, the SARAC team was grateful for this well-timed contribution. Established in 2011, SARAC rescues, feeds and provides medication for homeless animals in Joburg’s Soweto township, attending to cases of abuse and neglect. They also have a mobile clinic that goes out into the community to treat animals in need.
“This donation will go a really long way in helping so many animals, and drastically reducing our veterinary bills as fewer animals will suffer from parasitic infections,”
said SARAC founder, Jerry Selwane.
“The recent unrest had an impact, both directly and indirectly, but fortunately we’re in the process of getting things going again.”
Rescue is Life was founded in January 2019 to rescue, rehabilitate, rehome and sterilise as many dogs and cats as possible within the city of Cape Town. The NPO also aims to educate and empower pet owners so that they’re able to give their pets the very best life possible.

said Michelle Barnard, co-founder of Rescue is Life.
“Flea, tick and mange is a costly issue we face daily and Bravecto® is going to save us spending thousands of rands on products, which can be used towards food and vet bills.”

The #BravectoCares campaign provides donations of Bravecto® Spot-On for Dogs and Bravecto® Spot-On for Cats. Bravecto® Spot-On for Dogs provides effective protection of four months against ticks, and six months’ protection against fleas, while for cats there is Bravecto® Spot-On for Cats which protects cats against ticks, fleas and ear mites for three months, as well as Bravecto® Plus which protected cats against ticks, fleas and heartworm and it provides a treatment for intestinal worms. Bravecto® It’s a convenient and affordable method for treating parasites, providing this extended protection through just a single dose.

Also included in the Bravecto® range is the popular Bravecto® Chew for dogs which, with a single tasty chew provides 12 weeks of flea, tick and mite protection. After treating, Bravecto® Chew starts killing fleas within two hours, effectively killing more than 95 % of fleas within 12 hours over the 12-week period.
