DTSA Celebrates Vallei Organies’ Workplace Wellness Programme Completion

Daimler Truck Southern Africa (DTSA), in partnership with Trucking Wellness, celebrated Vallei Organies as the twelfth customer to successfully complete its Fleet Owner Workplace Wellness Programme. The programme is implemented under the guidance of the National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight and Logistics Industry's (NBCRFLI) Trucking Wellness Project.

Developed specifically for DTSA customers, the Fleet Owner Workplace Wellness Programme supports transport operators in establishing and embedding workplace wellness practices that prioritise employee health, safety and wellbeing. Through a structured approach, participating companies are equipped to strengthen their wellness policies and initiatives, ultimately contributing to healthier employees, improved operational performance, reduced absenteeism and enhanced fleet uptime.

The programme aligns with the broader objectives of the Trucking Wellness Project, which has positively impacted thousands of truck drivers and employees across South Africa's road freight and logistics sector. Through a network of fixed roadside wellness centres and mobile healthcare facilities, Trucking Wellness provides access to essential primary healthcare services, helping to improve health outcomes across the industry.

By promoting driver wellbeing, the Fleet Owner Workplace Wellness Programme contributes to safer roads, recognising that healthier drivers are better positioned to perform their demanding roles safely and effectively.

Comments on the programme

Tertius Wessels, Managing Director of the Corridor Empowerment Project, which manages Trucking Wellness on behalf of the NBCRFLI, said:

“The DTSA Fleet Owners Workplace Wellness Programme was developed on the concept of shared value, introduced through the DTSA and Trucking Wellness partnership, where all role-players share in the value of outcomes and impact. The implementation of the DTSA Fleet Owner Workplace Wellness Programme by Trucking Wellness, a programme of the NBCRFLI, at Vallei Organies, with the support of Orbit Commercial Vehicles, stands as a tangible example of shared value in action, demonstrating how collaboration can create meaningful health and business benefits for everyone involved.”

Cornel Oelofse, Franchise Executive of Orbit Commercial Vehicles Cape Town, added:

“A healthy driver is a safer driver.”
