On the eve of her 18th birthday, the radiant Princess Aurora pricks her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and falls into an enchanted slumber. Will she sleep forever, or will the kiss of the handsome Prince awaken her?
Come and be part of the magical world of fantasy and fairytale at EMPERORS PALACE from 5 MAY to 4 JUNE, where the classic story of Sleeping Beauty is on stage as a brand-new Afrikaans pantomime, DORINGROSIE.
This awesome production promises to complete a trilogy of hits, following in the footsteps of the spectacular SNEEUWITJIE (Snow White) and ASPOESTERTJIE (Cinderella).
Stunning songbird CHARLIZE BERG brings her own energy and sparkle to the title role, starring opposite multi-talented actor, presenter and musician MARNO VAN DER MERWE as the handsome Prince. Passionate performer BIANCA LE GRANGE is of course the perfect Maleficent, and the fantastically funny HANNES BRÜMMER and TIAAN RAUTENBACH as the two Good Fairies are as delightful as ever!
DORINGROSIE is produced by acclaimed local creative powerhouse Add-Life Productions, who since 2007 have become known for their beautifully crafted original Afrikaans musicals: SNEEUWITJIE, ASPOESTERTJIE, LIEFLING, DROOMKIND, DAWID, ESTER and HOUTKRUIS. They also produced the South African staging of BUDDY – THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY, and the Broadway concert FROM THE FOOTLIGHTS. Their sustained critical and commercial success over the last decade has cemented their reputation as South Africa’s theatre producers to watch.
Again raising the bar with its technical excellence – who can forget Aspoestertjie’s spell-binding costume change, or SNEEUWITJIE’s indoor snowstorm that literally blew audiences away? – DORINGROSIE has at its core a romantic innocence that’s irresistible. It simply scoops up the audience and takes them on a wonderfully entertaining journey… a delightful adventure not just for kiddies, but their parents and grannies too.
DORINGROSIE runs from 5 May to 4 June 2017, with performances at 11:00, 15:00 and 19:30 on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as 19:30 on Thursdays and Fridays.
