Finally a TV that’s good for your eyes – Hisense Laser TV

Since staying in is the new going out, and since our means of entertainment have shifted so much in the last few months, we’ve had to literally think out the box when it comes to fun and relaxation during lockdown.

Our lives have changed swiftly, and have mostly moved inwards to the living room where we’re using TV to binge-watch series on Netflix, go on virtual game drives to spot the Big Five, and “visit” the opera, ballet and museums, which have been made accessible for our viewing pleasure during lockdown.

We are doing burpees to home workouts on Facebook, livestreaming weddings, and playing more online games with friends. Technology that once kept us apart is now the lifeline that is keeping us connected, not only to our jobs and colleagues but also to our friends and family.

Bloomberg reports that demand for streaming entertainment has also grown, with Amazon.com Inc.Netflix Inc. and YouTube reducing the quality of their video streams in certain countries to ensure networks can handle the increased usage amid the coronavirus outbreak. Worldwide, interest in Netflix has grown by 142% amid the current pandemic and Showmax says that the number of its users is around 50% higher now before lockdown.

Kids, largely separated from their friends and peers, are also using screen time as an important tool for social engagement, play and entertainment. Digital game distributors such as Steam report an increase in the number of daily users from 19 million in early March to a record high of 23.5 million in early April, said UNICEF. Especially popular are social simulation games like the Animal Crossing series and Minecraft, which allow players to build their own worlds alone or together with friends.

While TV usage has skyrocketed, many of us are stuck with the old box that served us well for some series and occasional Sunday-night movies, but which doesn’t quite do justice to all that’s currently available, and what we’re using it for – work, study and play.

An excellent upgrade option is the Hisense Laser TV in 80-inch (80L5) or 100-inch (100L5F and 100LN60D) for the true home-entertainment experience. You can watch your favourite games and shows in brilliant 4K colour, with immersive sound produced by 14 built-in speakers and a JBL subwoofer.

Considered one of the most “eye-friendly” TVs, the TV has reflective light, and the image you see on the screen is reflected instead of directly into the eyes, which is consistent with human visual perception. Your eyes will stay comfortable even after long-time watching, which is excellent news for people who are worried about their – or their kids’ – eyesight after viewing.

The TV is so good, you won’t even miss going out.
