Fleet Safety Awards: In review and looking forward
The Fleet Safety Awards 2024 marked a pivotal moment in African organisational and road safety, celebrating excellence in fleet safety. The 2025 Awards are set to continue this momentum.
The highest number of Awards were won in 2024 since its start four years ago. The CEO of a driver training organisation, Eugene Herbert, says:
“It was a proud moment to hand out 18 awards to deserving recipients. Each individual and organisation showed an impressive arsenal in promoting road safety."
“Winners across nine different categories received more than R200 000 in cash prizes along with several other sought-after prizes. This year the Award pool is increased to R250 000. Included in this is award money for one of the two new categories.”
During 2025, a Sustainability Achievement and Sustainability Innovation Award will be added.
“The first award is for organisations committed to creating safer roads while also prioritising sustainability. The Sustainability Innovation Award is for the organisations providing the solutions that assist other organisations in meeting their sustainability goals,”
says Herbert.
Looking forward to 2025’s Awards
At the conclusion of the 2024 Fleet Safety Awards, a commitment was made to grow the Awards significantly in 2025. Following a record number of over 300 entries in 2024, a goal was set to increase entries to at least 500.
The growth of the Awards provides more opportunities to recognise organisations and individuals that are an example of what we should all strive to achieve within road safety. The Awards also positively impact the lives of more than just the recipients.
“When the Fleet Safety Awards were conceived, its objective was to ensure that the community benefitted as well. The 2024 Awards were the first opportunity to do this objective full justice. Two of the categories won cash prizes for further community development.”
This year, the winner of the Sustainability Achievement Award will also win R20 000 to contribute to an initiative that furthers sustainability initiatives.
“Following the difference this made to the community last year, we anticipate the same in the coming year.”
Something of great excitement during the 2025 Awards is a lucky draw that will take place every month until the awards.
“The first prize, two double tickets to the Festival of Motoring, have already been awarded to the ecstatic winners while the second prize, a comprehensive vehicle emergency kit, was awarded this week."
“With a new venue, two new Awards categories and more prize money, the MasterDrive team is confident that the 2025 Fleet Safety Awards will be even more rewarding for entrants as well as important in the drive to continually improve and be the best Awards ceremony for fleets in Africa,”
says Herbert.
