Four Die in Hartbeespoort Dam Ferry Fire
What started as a joyous occasion for 200 people aboard a ferry in Hartbeespoort Dam ending in tragedy as four people died due to a fire on the boat.
Three people drowned on Saturday afternoon when they jumped off the boat in an attempt to escape the blaze. The fourth person was trapped in the boat's toilet and burned to death.
Bestcare ambulance service spokesperson Xander Loubser confirmed four people were dead and said the Hartbeespoort Emergency Rescue unit was on the scene.
The ferry which was just outside the Pecanwood Estate had apparently caught fire due to an electrical fault according to numerous reports.
