Gooderson Leisure MTB & Trail Running Challenge 2018
Set in the beautiful Southern Drakensberg only 3 hours from Durban. Situated 25 minutes from Underberg, the event will surely attract competitors from the coast, the midlands and southern berg.
The weekend starts on Saturday, June 30 with the 7.5km, 15km and the new 20km Trail Run on the superb single tracks of Drakensberg Gardens, with breath taking views from the top of the Drakensberg Gardens Plateau. All the races will start from 09h00 with delayed intervals between races. Registration for both races starts at 07h30.
Sunday, July 1 starts at 07h30 with registration and the 40km MTB event starting at 09h00. This will be followed by the 20km at 09h10. Due to the success of the 20km event in 2017 the route will remain largely unchanged with maybe a few tweeks here and there. The 40km will see riders enjoy the single track of Drakensberg Gardens and Lake Naverone and the challenging section of Castleburn. The route will also go through Eland Valley for the first time and we are hoping to have the section reopened that will take the riders up the front of the Drak Gardens Plateau.
There will be Goodie bags and race shirts provided to the first 200 Pre Entries participants who compete in any of the 4 races over the weekend. Late entries will be accommodated at the hotel on both days (Saturday and Sunday) from 07h30.
As this event forms part of the prestigious ROAG Series there will be cash prizes available for both Male and Female entrants competing in the 20 & 40km MTB (Age Categories – Position 1-3) as well as the 7.5km, 15km and 15km Trail Running Events (Men and Ladies Overall – Position 1-3)
Prize giving will be held on both days on the hotel verandah (Saturday, June 30 at 12noon and Sunday, July 1 at 13h00). This is sure to be a weekend of fun activities, great food, entertainment and a festive atmosphere for all those participating or in attendance.
