The anticipation is building as the GR Cup, part of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing South Africa, gears up for an exciting weekend of racing at the Aldo Scribante Race Circuit in Gqeberha. This highly anticipated event marks Round 4 of the 2023 GR Cup, showcasing the exceptional talent of the motoring writers behind the wheel of the Toyota GR86 race cars.

The regular drivers, including Mark Jones (Citizen), Denis Droppa (TimesLIVE), Setshaba Mashigo (ASAMM), Chad Luckhoff (Auto Trader), Reuben van Niekerk (Jumping Kids/Wheels24), and Brendon Staniforth (Maroela Media), will all be in action, ready to push their limits and ignite the track with thrilling competition.

Mashigo currently leads the GR Cup standings with 33 points, showcasing outstanding performance and skill. He holds a 7-point advantage over Jones, adding an extra layer of excitement to their ongoing rivalry. Luckhoff is positioned in third place, eager to close the gap and challenge for the top spot.

As the drivers prepare for the races, the weather in Gqeberha is expected to play a role, with forecasts indicating mixed conditions over the weekend. The dynamic weather adds an element of unpredictability and tests the drivers' adaptability and race strategies.

In a special return to the GR Cup, Anand Pather, Toyota SA Motors Vice-President for Customer Services will be joining the competition. Pather previously competed in a GR Yaris but is now set to make his debut in the GR86. The GR Cup at the Aldo Scribante Race Circuit promises high-speed thrills, intense battles, and captivating on-track action. Fans can expect a day filled with adrenaline and excitement as the motoring writers demonstrate their racing prowess.
