Local Drivers Set to Experience the N Line Model for the First Time in Mzansi

Hyundai Automotive South Africa has expanded its offering in one of the country’s most competitive vehicle segments with the launch of the new Hyundai CRETA 1.5 Premium, powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and priced at R434,900, which makes it R44,000 cheaper than the outgoing 2024 model.

Stanley Anderson, CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa said the company understands that South Africans want vehicles that offer value while still meeting the needs of modern lifestyles.

“In a highly-competitive market where customers are scrutinising every rand they spend, our response is simple: give them more reasons to choose Hyundai.  The new Hyundai CRETA is about delivering genuine value without compromising on technology, safety, style or driving enjoyment.”

Safety features include front, thorax and curtain airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic stability control (ESC), Hill-start Assist Control, ISOFIX mounting points, parking distance warning, a rear-view monitor as well as tyre-pressure monitoring.  The vehicle measures 4330 mm in length, 1790 mm in width, 1620 mm in height and has a 190mm of ground clearance.

It produces 84 kW and 144 Nm of torque, providing adequate output for everyday urban driving and longer trips, giving fuel consumption of 6.3 L/km.  For peace of mind, it comes with seven-year/200,000 km warranty together with a four-year/60 000 km service plan.

The new Hyundai CRETA Premium comes equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, rear combination lamps and electrically folding mirrors.  Interior features include USB charging, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth with voice recognition, automatic headlamp control, a 4.2-inch supervision display and keyless entry and start.

Hyundai CRETA N Line Model Hits South African Roads for the First Time

Meanwhile, the company is also introducing the sportier Hyundai CRETA 1.5T N Line dual-clutch transmission (DCT) to the local market for the first time, priced at R569,900.

“The Hyundai CRETA N Line gives us an opportunity to compete for customers who want something with a little more than a driving enjoyment,” added Anderson, emphasizing that the N Line is also comprehensively equipped for the realities of everyday driving.

At the heart of the Hyundai N Line is a 1,482 cc turbocharged engine, delivering 117.5 kW of total system output and 253 Nm of torque.  At a slightly higher height of 1,635 mm compared to the Premium model, the CRETA N Line retains the versatility expected of a compact SUV while adding a more performance-focused character.

Rear parking sensors and a 360-degree parking camera make low-speed manoeuvring easier, while adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, lane-departure warning and pre-collision avoidance bring advanced driver assistance to the package.  Fatigue detection and hill-hold assistance are also standard.  The occupant protection includes driver, passenger as well as side and curtain airbags, complemented by ISOFIX child-seat mounting points.  Inside, the specification includes full leather upholstery, wireless smartphone charging as well as Bluetooth connection.

The Hyundai N Line’s visual and equipment highlights include a panoramic sunroof, roof rails and 18-inch alloy wheels, adding a distinctive finish.  Its LED headlights, daytime running lights and automatic headlights further enhance the vehicle’s daily driving experience and a satin-black grille.

Similar to the Hyundai CRETA Premium, the N Line derivative also comes with 7-year/200,000 km manufacturer’s warranty, 4-year/60 000 km service plan as well as 7-year/150 000km roadside assistance, giving buyers greater peace of mind and improved predictability when budgeting for their vehicle.

“Our expansion of the Hyundai CRETA range gives us greater scope to compete across the compact-SUV market, offering customers a choice between a value-focused Premium derivative and the more distinctive N Line model,” concluded Anderson.
