Hyundai Automotive South Africa has introduced the facelifted STARIA to the local market, bringing updated styling, a more sophisticated cabin and upgraded infotainment technology to its distinctive premium multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

The Hyundai STARIA’s exterior has been given a comprehensive refresh, most notably at the front where redesigned bumpers and radiator grilles have been introduced.  The grille design has been optimized to improve cooling and aerodynamic performance.  The signature Horizontal Daytime Running Light has been redesigned, with the previous three-part treatment integrated into a cleaner, more cohesive light signature.  New wheel designs complete the exterior update, while the rear bumper garnish has also been revised.

“The Hyundai STARIA has always offered South African customers a different vision of what a multi-purpose vehicle can be,” said Stanley Anderson, CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa.  “This facelift strengthens that proposition, giving customers more technology, greater comfort and an even more distinctive vehicle without losing the versatility that makes Hyundai STARIA so appealing.”

Inside, the biggest change is the dashboard.  The infotainment and instrument displays have both grown from 10.25 inches to 12.3 inches, accompanied by a redesigned centre fascia and dashboard.  A new steering wheel and updated cabin detailing further enhance the STARIA’s premium positioning.

Under the bonnet, the South African-specification Hyundai STARIA continues with a 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine producing 130 kW and 430 Nm and driving through an eight-speed automatic transmission.  A fuel consumption figure of 8L/100 km is achievable.  The facelifted Hyundai STARIA is therefore aimed at buyers who use their vehicles for business, passenger transport and long-distance travel.

There are five derivatives in the Hyundai STARIA line-up and the pricing is as follows:

  • Hyundai STARIA 2.2 3-seater Panelvan priced at R719 900
  • Hyundai STARIA 2.2 9-seater Executive Bus AT priced at R959 900
  • Hyundai STARIA 2.2 11-seater Executive Bus AT priced at R969 900
  • Hyundai STARIA 2.2 9-seater Elite Bus AT priced at R1099 900
  • Hyundai STARIA 2.2 9-seater Luxury Bus AT priced at R1324 900

A 7-year/200 000km manufacturer’s warranty, 7-year/105 000km service plan for the Luxury, a 6-year/90 000km service plan for Executive and Elite, 7-year/150 000km roadside assistance are included.

“The facelifted Hyundai STARIA combines passenger-carrying capability with the comfort, technology and refinement expected by today’s customers,” said Johan Nel, Sales Director at Hyundai Automotive South Africa.  “For business users, our dedicated fleet operation adds tailored solutions, account support and access to a nationwide network of 100 dealerships.”
