Inspire greatness with Legratron
With difficult times ahead for many people personally as well as companies, it is more important than ever for entrepreneurs and leaders to remain focused and inspired. For this reason, the Inspire Greatness Seminar will be taking place this weekend via Zoom and the managing director of Legratron Electronics, Itumeleng Matshego, will be one of the speakers.
Matshego’s business started with an idea that challenged the status quo and continues to do so. It was his determination as an entrepreneur and ability as a strong leader, that helped him turn it into more than just an idea. “During the course of the seminar the speakers will be sharing some the lessons they have learnt along the way and how the entrepreneurs and leaders of today can use this in an environment that is vastly different from just a few months ago.
“One of the first lesson that I learnt is that great leaders make other leaders. Their leadership style is one of grooming people to be the next leader in their business rather than cultivating or creating a room full of followers. A critical part of this is creating a company culture that fosters these values. I value a culture that accepts mistakes do happen but still ensure that unethical behaviour in business dealings is not condoned in any way.”
The company culture that you create as a leader is essential. “It sends an important message and creates the perception clients and competitors will have of you and the busines you design. A strong leader also creates a culture where performance is managed in such a way that your team is inspired to not just perform but achieve the highest levels of success that they can.”
Part of being a leader that inspires is being someone who leads by example. “Transformation and gender equality is at the top of Legratron’s business ethos. I strongly believe in equal opportunity for all and ensure that it is pervasive in my company.
“Additionally, none of this can be achieved without embracing the benefits technology has to offer. “Great leaders embrace technology and change, especially in scenarios like our current one where the two go hand-in-hand in order to overcome. Technology provides an ideal tool to enhance productivity and free one’s time to focus on the many other roles you will need to juggle and also to seize every busines opportunity. It gives my team the tools they need to manage their time, without micromanagement from me, and increase their output.”
As many as there are businesses that face closure, there are opportunities to begin new ones. Whether that business is only relevant during the time of COVID-19 or whether it thrives well beyond that, depends on the leader you have at the helm,” says Matshego.
