The IPAF theme this year is “GENERATION NEXT: EDUCATE, COLLABORATE AND EMPOWER”.  The festival has become a springboard for a dynamic exchange of culture, skill and experiences among the artists who are strategically selected to form a diverse group from varied levels of experience. This allows for the more established artists to give back to the artists’ community by volunteering their time in creating meaningful works while inspiring the emerging artists with their experience and skill sharing. The emerging artists are provided with a platform that can propel their careers.

Some of the local and international artists who will be working together for this year’s festival include:

  • Aida Gomez

Fine artist, Aïda Gómez from Madrid, uses environmentally friendly and non-invasive art in capturing and challenging the view of passers-by, turning them into playfellows in her self-appointed playgrounds in the street.

Aida’s participation was made possible with the support of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and the Spanish Embassy.

  • Dbongz

Dbongz is a self-taught South African muralist who has been making big waves on the street art scene. He has been awarded the Best Graffiti Artists for the South African Hip Hop Awards (SAHHA) 2018 and is a proud representative of BAZ-ART in Johannesburg.

  • Said Dokins

World renowned Said Dokins lives and works in Mexico City. He started graffiti in the early 1990s and is best known for his traditional Western and Japanese calligraphy. His work as an artist has been showcased in countries such as Spain, Germany, Holland, Belgium, United Kingdom, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, El Salvador, Peru and others.

  • Shinji

Cape Town muralist, Shinji, is a multi-disciplined artist, whose work often spans the fields of Illustration, Graphic Design, Graffiti, Murals, and Animation.

Through the festival, IPAF aims is to take South African art to the world and to invite the world to South Africa, ultimately connecting nations through art.
