Jaguar to power Fortescue Zero Racing in Formula E's GEN4 era
Jaguar and Fortescue Zero Racing have announced a new multi‑year manufacturer / customer supply relationship ahead of the 2026/27 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season – the beginning of the ‘GEN4’ era.
Under the agreement, the new Australian owned team will race with Jaguar’s GEN4 car – currently in development as the Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE – when the new season begins in December of this year.
The GEN4 era in Formula E will mark a seismic performance evolution, with maximum power up from 350kW to 600kW, the introduction of permanent active all-wheel-drive and the ability to regen at 700kW
GEN4 also provides the biggest scope yet for Jaguar to develop its powertrain technology, the manufacturer perimeter now including the design and integration of the motor, inverter, gearbox, rear suspension, active rear differential, cooling system, drive shafts and electrical harnesses, as well as bespoke Jaguar software and controls. In addition, the GEN4 manufacturer perimeter has widened to include developing new front and rear brake-by-wire and DC/DC converter systems.
Building on the success of Jaguar’s long-standing customer-supply relationship with Paysafe Envision Formula E Team, the GEN4 era will see six Jaguar-powered cars on the Formula E grid, competing for championship points, podium finishes and race victories. All six cars will be eligible to score points for Jaguar in the ABB FIA Formula E Manufacturers’ World Championship.
Season 13 and the start of the GEN4 era is planned to commence in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Friday, 18 December 2026.
