We are writing to formally confirm important information regarding the payload (load-carrying) capacity of the Jetour T1 and T2 vehicles, following recent public discussion regarding the vehicles’ original homologated payload rating of 300 kg.

Jetour South Africa (Pty) Ltd (“Jetour South Africa”) has engaged directly with Jetour Head Office and the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (“NRCS”) regarding the approved payload capacity applicable to the T1 and T2 models.

Based on the approval obtained from the NRCS, Jetour South Africa confirms that the approved payload capacity applicable to the relevant Jetour T1 and T2 model range is 475 kg, inclusive of the driver.

Applicability to Your Vehicle

Jetour South Africa further confirms that, insofar as the relevant vehicle falls within the model range and specifications covered by the NRCS approval, the revised payload capacity applies to both new vehicles and existing T1 and T2 vehicles already sold and in circulation.

Importantly:

  • No mechanical, structural or component changes are required to the relevant T1 or T2 models in order for the revised approved payload capacity to apply.
  • The revised approved payload capacity of 475 kg relates to the vehicles in their existing mechanical and structural configuration.
  • Accordingly, an existing T1 or T2 vehicle falling within the scope of the applicable NRCS approval is subject to the revised approved payload capacity of 475 kg, inclusive of the driver.

Jetour is currently engaging with the relevant local licensing authorities regarding the increased payload capacity of existing vehicles. Customers will be kept informed of any relevant updates as the process progresses.

We thank you for your continued trust in the Jetour brand and remain committed to your safety and confidence on the road.
