KZN hair stylists form part of the Glam Squad at the SAFTA Awards
Caivil Hair embarked on a national pursuit seeking out professional hair stylists to form part of the prestigious Caivil Glam Hair Squad ensuring that all the celebrities’ hair at the South African Film and Television Awards at Sun City next weekend from March 22 to 24 would be perfectly coiffed prior to hitting centre stage.
This particular competition invited hair stylists to enter their details and as part of their entry had to submit three styles they had recently created in their salons. The judges had an extremely difficult task of selecting just 9 representatives after receiving hundreds upon hundreds of entries. The final round in KZN took place at 320 West Street at one of the local salons.
The competition was judged by top SA stylist Rupert Mpanza, Fashionista Leon Payn and Head of Marketing @ Marico South Africa, Ella Mthethwa.
Each of the stylists was judged on styling, professionalism, and speed of work, how they interacted with their models as well as what inspired their specific styles.
The stylists who walked away clear winners were Ntuthuko Hlophoyi; Nodi Cele; Khumbu Mngomezulu; Sanele Nzama; Jabu Dlamini. They not only got to take home a fantastic styling kit worth over R10 000 but will now also form part of the team of ten who will make up the Caivil Glam Squad at this year’s SAFTAs.
“The level of talent on the day of the finals in KZN was exceptional. It was extremely difficult to judge but we are delighted to have found the best in KZN. We understand that many of our country’s stylists don’t have formal learning but they do have invaluable on the job training. I must add that these winners produced such elegant styles whilst sharing their enthusiasm, passion and creativity under extreme pressure. We are proud to have these stylists on board and believe they will make exceptional ambassadors for the Caivil Brand”, said Ella Mthethwa, Head of Marketing @ Marico South Africa.
She concluded,
“2018 is going to provide further opportunities for these independent stylists post SAFTA’s, as we will be involved in a number of events where they can continue to grow their talents and abilities. Caivil has its roots in Africa and we are about making men and women confident”.
