Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) is immensely proud of Ntando Mahlangu, Anruné Weyers and Louzanne Coetzee for their valiant heroics at the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 over the weekend.

The South African trio pulled out all the stops to bag two gold medals and a silver in their respective sporting categories.

TSAM ambassador brand ambassador, Mahlangu, clinched gold in the Men’s T63 Long Jump with a record-breaking leap of 7.17metres to secure a top spot for himself on the podium. TSAM has partnered with Mahlangu since 2019 and is thrilled with his performance at the Paralympic Games so far. He is still due to feature in the Men’s T61 200m Athletics. Mahlangu has also been part of the South African Sport Association for the Physically Disabled (SASAPD) Championships, of which TSAM is the main sponsor.

The other South African medals came through Weyers (gold) in Women’s T47 400metres and Coetzee who won silver in Women’s T11 1500metres. TSAM has reiterated that it would reward all podium finishers at the Olympic and Paralympic Games with monetary prizes. Athletes who win gold medals will be awarded a R100 000 cash incentive, while those who bag silver and bronze receive cash prizes of R50 000 and R25 000 – respectively.

Toyota believes that investing in athletes helps to ensure that sport is strategically positioned to play its part in both entertainment arena and to facilitate social cohesion. As the Worldwide Official Mobility Partner of the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee, Toyota shares the vision to inspire people to push onward – past their finish line, past their impossible.

The world has seen so many examples of people achieving the impossible at the Tokyo 2020 Games. Toyota believes that you can achieve great things when you move. This is why Toyota is a proud partner of Tokyo 2020 Games. Toyota is wholeheartedly committed to unleashing human potential through the power of movement.

Start Your Impossible

Toyota’s theme for the Olympic and Paralympic Games is Start your Impossible. This was the brand’s first global campaign, conceptualised in 2018 to reflect the Olympic and Paralympic spirit of encouragement, challenge and progress.

It is an impassioned call to action which is designed to create a more inclusive and sustainable society in which every single human being is encouraged to reach for and attain his or her personal best.

This notion reinforces Toyota’s goal of moving from an automobile – to a mobility company that highlights real-life mobility stories, as well as everyday people and athletes who demonstrate the values of humility, hard work and tenacity in the face of adversity.
