GOODERSON LEISURE MTB & TRAIL RUNNING CHALLENGE 2017 HOSTED AT THE DRAKENSBERG GARDENS GOLF & SPA RESORT – 15 & 16 JULY 2017

The first of the Gooderson Leisure MTB & Trail Running Challenge’s 2017 will be taking place at the Gooderson Drakensberg Gardens Golf & Spa Resort on July 15 and 16th, in the beautiful Southern Drakensberg only 3 hours from Durban. Situated 25 minutes from Underberg, the event will surely attract competitors from the coast, the midlands and southern berg.
The weekend starts on Saturday with the 7.5km and 15km Trail Run’s on the superb single tracks of Drakensberg Gardens, with breath taking views from the top of the Drakensberg Gardens Plateau. The 15km kicks off at 09h00 and the 7.5km at 09h10. Registration for both races starts at 07h30.
Sunday starts at 07h30 with registration and the 40km MTB event starting at 09h00. This will be followed by the 20km at 09h10. The 20km event has changed slightly from 2016 and the riders will enjoy some new race routes sections particularly in the Eland Valley Resort. The 40km will see riders enjoy the single track of Drakensberg Gardens, Lake Naverone and Castleburn. The section of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife will once again be on the route which will see the 40km riders access the Drak Gardens Plateau from the Giants Cup Trail. All participants are also welcome to offer donations to EKZNW during the weekend as well as the chance to win a fabulous prize!!
There will be Goodie bags for the 1st 200 Pre Entries participants who compete in all 4 races over the weekend. These Pre Entries close on Wednesday 12 July. Late entries will be accommodated at the hotel on both days (Saturday and Sunday) from 07h30.
As this event forms part of the prestigious ROAG Series there will be cash prizes available for both Male and Female entrants competing in the 20 & 40km MTB (Age Categories – Position 1-3) asa well as the 7.5km and 15km Trail Running Events (Men and Ladies Overall – Position 1-3)
Prize giving will be held on both days on the hotel verandah (Saturday at 12noon and Sunday at 13h00). A weekend of great activities, great food, entertainment as well as a festive atmosphere all weekend to those in attendance.
