Yoga at the Vineyard Hotel in Newlands, Cape Town
Due to popular demand the Vineyard Hotel has added a yoga studio to its health and wellness offering!
Enjoy your salutations and postures surrounded by the tranquillity of their 7-acre garden on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. The new studio is open to all - both guests and locals will be able to restore, revive and renew their serenity and strength in the new studio next to the Angsana Spa in the Vineyard’s Wellness Centre.
|Great news! From 7 to 11 August classes will be free (on a first come, first served basis) to allow those interested experience the new studio.|
Sign up for one-hour classes of 8 to 10 people in Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga with Jess McLeod, a Certified Yoga Instructor, First Class.
“Hatha Yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting opposites,” says Jess. “It is a powerful tool for self-transformation. Bringing attention to our breathing, it helps us still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the unfolding of each moment.”
Hatha is relatively gentle, slow and great for beginners or students who prefer a more relaxed style where poses are held for longer.
Vinyasa Yoga is more suited to those who already have an understanding of proper alignment in the yoga postures.
“There is a dynamic flow in this practice and less time is spent in each posture than in Hatha Yoga,” explains Jess. “It is a vigorous style based on a rapid flow through sun salutations. Each movement is a gradual progression from one to the next. The movement is aligned and linked with the breath – you move with each inhalation and exhalation.”
Yoga classes will be offered at the Vineyard on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7am, 8am and 6pm, and on Fridays at 8am and 6pm. Private sessions are offered between 9am and 6pm, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and weekends by prior arrangement.
