Nick Cassidy charges through the field to secure back-to-back Berlin wins for Jaguar tcs racing

Jaguar TCS Racing is now up to fourth in the Teams’ World Championship as a result of back-to-back wins at the Temphelhof Airport Circuit
An incredible drive from Nick Cassidy saw the Jaguar TCS Racing #37 take victory in Round 14 of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, despite starting from the tenth row of the grid.
In a race where energy management and team strategy was critical, Cassidy and Jaguar TCS Racing delivered a masterclass to climb from 20th on the grid to take a remarkable victory - Cassidy’s ninth in Formula E, and a move up to fourth in the Drivers’ standings after his second win of the campaign.
The Kiwi, who has scored more points than anyone else in Formula E in the past eight races with 92, also took the fastest lap on the way to victory in Germany, his third in total in the German capital.
Team-mate Mitch Evans secured a strong fifth place, moving up from ninth on the grid and fought for a top-three finish throughout, but the Jaguar TCS Racing #9 narrowly missed out on a podium finish by just over two seconds.
Changeable conditions had been a theme throughout the Berlin E-Prix and they were once again for Round 14. Despite heavy rainfall for FP3, track conditions had improved significantly prior to qualifying. With both Jaguar TCS Racing drivers running a wet setup, Cassidy and Evans’ performance was compromised – with both missing out on the Duels.
In the race, however, both were able to make excellent progress through the field, and despite two safety car periods Evans and Cassidy had moved up to fourth and twelfth, respectively, with 15 laps remaining and both Attack Mode deployments still to take.
An attacking surge from Evans saw the Kiwi climb to the front when racing resumed, and he fought for the podium for the remainder of the 41-lap race, but just missed out on back-to-back top-three finishes in Berlin.
But it was a late charge from Cassidy, taking his Attack Mode deployments on lap 31 and lap 35, who seized the initiative, stealing a march on the opposition to take a dramatic victory – his fourth for Jaguar TCS Racing and his eleventh podium for the British team.
After taking a remarkable 71 points from Berlin with two victories and a fastest lap – not to mention Evans’ pole position in Round 13 – Jaguar TCS Racing is now fourth in the Teams’ World Championship – just six points adrift of the top three – with Jaguar consolidating its third place in the Manufacturers’ standings.
James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal:
“An incredible weekend for the team here in Germany – two wins in Berlin is really special and will live long in the memory. The momentum is really with us at the moment and everyone at Jaguar TCS Racing should be proud of their efforts. We showed this weekend that no matter what the conditions, or the challenge ahead of us, that we were up to the task - and that is a remarkable feeling.”
“Everyone knows that a driver of Nick’s class can never be written off, even when starting from P20 on the grid. He and the team delivered a strategic masterclass, adeptly moving up the order and staying out of trouble, before making a decisive move in the closing stages to take a fantastic victory – our 20th in Formula E, which we will remember for some time."
“Mitch fought at the front of the field for much of the race and it felt like he had a strong chance of taking back-to-back podiums in Berlin, but he was unlucky to just miss out on the top three. He had a really impressive weekend and should be buoyed heading into the final two races in London. We are all incredibly motivated to perform strongly at our home race, and taking two victories from two in Berlin gives everyone a huge boost.”
Jaguar TCS Racing driver Nick Cassidy, #37:
“What a great race! After another difficult qualifying it looked tough starting from the back, but we knew if we executed well, we had a quick car today. So I’m really proud of myself and the team for the way we ran our race today - win number three in three years for me in Berlin!”
Jaguar TCS Racing driver Mitch Evans, #9:
“Today’s race was difficult given the pack racing style of the track in Berlin - but I feel we got everything we could from where we started the race. A really strong weekend for us as a team with a win each for me and Nick - so we’re looking forward to our home race in London to finish the season.”
