Peugeot Citroën South Africa have extended the loan of vehicles to the Department of Health until the end of 2020.

The vehicles are being use by health care workers enabling them to increase their capacity for medical testing and screening activations in the Gauteng and outlying regions.

Leslie Ramsoomar, MD of Peugeot Citroën South Africa said: “We need to work together to overcome this pandemic and in this regard are extending the use of the vehicles until the end of 2020.”

“Even though we have been downgraded to Level 2 the battle is not yet over.”

“This is a critical period. Now, as we experience a trough in the epidemic, we must not relent or fall into a trap of complacency but rather ride the momentum so that we can keep a flat curve and ensure our facilities do not become overwhelmed” Minister of Health, Zweli Mkhize said.

District Manager, Mr D Baloyi said “On Behalf of Gauteng EMS Acting CEO Mr. K. Malebana, we thank Peugeot Citroën South Africa so much for extending the loan.

“The vehicles will be put to good use as a form of support to the Gauteng Department of Health in the fight against COVID-19, with the aim of building a patient centered, clinical-led and stakeholder drive health system.”

“We would like to express our appreciation to all the health workers whos’ courage and dedication, despite the difficult circumstances, is commendable. ‘We salute them for the strength and tenacity they have shown throughout the pandemic.” Leslie concluded.

The replacement vehicles will be handed over at the end of August 2020.
