PIETER-DIRK UYS AND EVITA BEZUIDENHOUT TO BE HONOURED – AND PUT ON TRIAL – AT SAVANNA COMICS’ CHOICE AWARDS
“GRILLING OF A LIFETIME”
The Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards is taking Pieter-Dirk Uys and Evita Bezuidenhout to court! The charge: being this year’s recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Every year the Lifetime Achiever is honoured at a special standalone “Grilling of a Lifetime” event, where they are roasted or grilled by a panel of their peers in front of an intimate live audience. But this year the organisers are changing things up: the whole evening will take on the format of a mock-trial, complete with a judge and accusation of crimes against political correctness.
First in the dock will be the incomparable and legendary comedian, performer and political activist Pieter-Dirk Uys. From there proceedings will progress to “frocks on, gloves off” as Evita Bezuidenhout takes the stand to defend her actions around multi-racial relations, homosexual children, racism and land appropriation.
Overseeing the proceedings will be Judge Mark Banks and MC Jefferson Tshabalala.
The court date has been set for Friday 28 September at The Venue, Melrose Arch in Johannesburg. Doors open at 18:00 and the hearing begins at 20:00.
With the slick production that has become the signature of the Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards, this promises to be a night to remember.
