Gert-Johan Coetzee is one of South Africa’s most celebrated designers, known for his couture creations that merge high fashion with theatrical storytelling, dressing some of the world’s most influential women.
For South African Fashion Week Spring Summer 2026, he presents Behind The Crimson Door, a powerful collaboration with CIRK that transforms the runway into a live theatrical experience, blending couture, aerial performance and narrative.
Inspired by Coetzee’s own journey from a small-town farm to the global stage, the collection explores courage, ambition and the pursuit of dreams, following a young woman’s journey into the unknown.
As the story unfolds, the garments evolve from simplicity into bold, expressive statements, symbolising transformation, confidence and the moment one steps through fear into possibility.
