Suzuki blooms into spring with record-breaking August sales

South Africa’s second-best-selling manufacturer
Spring has sprung, and Suzuki Auto South Africa is welcoming the season with a fresh sales milestone.
According to the latest report from industry body naamsa, a grand total of 6,534 new Suzuki passenger and light commercial vehicles were sold in August 2025. This surpasses the Japanese brand’s previous overall sales record of 6,399 units set in January, adding 135 vehicles to the tally.
Dealer sales accounted for 4,823 units, with fleet, rental and government customers contributing 1,711 units. This performance cements Suzuki’s position as the country’s second-best-selling manufacturer, a rank it has maintained since the start of the year.
Leading the sales charge was the sleek fourth-generation Swift, which sold 2,101 units and finished as the third-best-selling passenger model overall for the month. The AB-segment contender also proved a hit at the recent Festival of Motoring, where members of the public enjoyed high-speed passenger laps with professional drivers around the famed Kyalami International Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand, Gauteng.
Close behind the Swift was the Fronx crossover SUV with 1,210 units, followed by the Ertiga MPV (1,055 units), Baleno hatchback (500 units), and the budget-friendly S-Presso, which rounded out the top five with 433 units sold.
Just outside the top five was the plucky Jimny 4x4, with 326 units sold. Many of these will no doubt be making their way to Jimny Gathering 2025, taking place from 25 to 28 September at Louvain Guest Farm in the Western Cape’s picturesque Outeniqua Mountains.
“What an incredible way to start the month,”
says Henno Havenga, General Manager of Sales and Marketing at Suzuki Auto South Africa.
“Reaching this new overall sales milestone is a humbling yet proud moment for everyone involved here at Suzuki Auto South Africa."
“Spring is a season of growth and renewal, and this achievement gives us fresh energy as we head into the final months of 2025. It’s a testament to the dedication of our ever-expanding dealer network and the trust of our customers, who continue to choose Suzuki for its reliability, value and overall driving enjoyment. This record inspires us to keep building momentum and delivering vehicles that meet the needs of South African drivers.”
