Telkom Empowers Proteas Ahead of the 2023 Netball World Cup by ensuring the squad stays connected

In a strategic partnership, Telkom and Samsung has equipped the final SPAR Proteas squad with a smartphone, smartwatch and an unlimited monthly cell phone contract that will keep them connected, both on and off the field, as they prepare for Africa’s first Netball World Cup in Cape Town.

Telkom, one of South Africa’s leading telecommunication companies, and device partner came together to show their commitment to the development and empowerment of netball in South Africa. The event aimed at cementing the stance on sponsoring netball and its continuous efforts to support and uplift the SPAR Proteas squad, as they gear up for the highly anticipated 2023 Netball World Cup.

In a handover ceremony held in Rosebank, Telkom proudly presented the final squad and management team with cutting-edge Samsung smartphones and smartwatches, keeping them connected both on and off the court. This initiative highlights Telkom’s dedication to “…connecting people to a better life”

Gugu Mthembu, Telkom’s Chief Marketing Officer, expressed her excitement about the event stating,

“We would like to firstly congratulate all the players who have been selected for the final Proteas squad. We are also honoured to be part of this significant moment for the Proteas. At Telkom we believe in empowering athletes and enabling them to achieve their full potential. Through our netball sponsorship and initiatives like this, we are committed to keeping the team connected and supporting their journey to the Netball World Cup.”

Telkom’s sponsorship goes beyond the provision of devices but each member received a FlexOn 6 contract. This contract will ensure seamless communication and uninterrupted connectivity as the team embark on their journey to represent the nation.

“We understand the significance of connectivity in today’s digital world, and we strive to be at the forefront of technological advancements,”

added Mthembu.

“With our messaging, ‘Telkom always keeps you connected,’ we emphasise our commitment to supporting the Proteas, not only leading to the tournament or during their time in Cape Town, but also after the global competition ends.”

Telkom’s partnership with Samsung for this event underscores their shared vision of empowering South African athletes and the betterment of netball at all age levels. In light of this exciting initiative, Telkom extends its best wishes to the final Proteas squad selected to represent the country at the upcoming Netball World Cup.

As the excitement builds for the Netball World Cup, Telkom remains dedicated to empowering the squad and keeping them connected every step of the way, ensuring every member of the squad stays connected with their families and friends while preparing for the tournament and post the competition.
