New stylish, funny, musical review featuring three of SA’s highly talented TV and musical theatre performers

Ever since Eve grabbed that fig leaf, humankind has been obsessed with what we wear, why we wear, and how we wear the clothes that make us, break us and fake us.

Join seasoned musical theatre and television stars Ntambo Rapatla (Chicago The Musical, We Will Rock You, King Kong The Musical) who is also a philanthropist, writer and director of children’s plays;  Sharon Spiegel Wagner (Rocky Horror, Grease, Hairspray) easily recognisable for her role in the Showmax original series, Tali’s Joburg Diary and vocalist, producer and performer Lorri Strauss (Rent, Rocky Horror, Backstage) as they laugh, sing and strut their way through ‘The Dress Code’

Directed by fashion forward Alan Swerdlow (award winning director, actor and playwright) and with musical direction by the stylish, Clifford Cooper (Oliver, Rocky Horror, Little Shop Of Horrors), this production is a must see for fashionistas or anyone who enjoys an evening of comedy and music.

Through an eclectic mix of reimagined songs including all-time favourites such as I’m Still Standing, Time in a Bottle , True Colours , Black Velvet  and You’re never fully dressed without a Smile together with a variety of costume changes, ‘The Dress Code’ takes the audience on a journey that explores the diverse and often humorous issues related to fashion and pokes fun at the complexities of our relationship with clothing. Whether you are addicted to online shopping, have opinions on fast fashion, or worry about not wearing the right dress code to a function, this show has something for anyone who wears clothes.

The Dress Code is the debut production of Bad Moms Productions and Daphne Kuhn and is set to hit the catwalk at Theatre on the Square from 9-26 May.

About Bad Mom Productions was created by Lorri Strauss and Sharon Spiegel Wagner – two seasoned professional artists who are as passionate about producing and creating theatre as they are about being kickass moms.

Lorri and Sharon have been friends since high school and together they grew up to become the show business women they are today. After collaborating and creating four award nominated productions, the next logical step was to plunge into the crazy world of formal producing.

The duo have managed to create productions that make audiences want to laugh, sing and cry. They draw from their most personal experiences and from their unique bond as friends. Lorri’s business savvy drive combined with Sharon’s kooky creative flair make the secret sauce of their success. Often on their school run dropping the kids off, they’ll get on a call to each other and start the magical process of putting a show together.

Sharon and Lorri can’t wait to keep creating, scripting and producing productions for South African audiences to enjoy and they both hope to keep up with the contemporary high standard of live theatre and entertainment. Their mission is to provide audiences with relevant, high quality productions that can make an impact on the smallest and largest of audiences.
