The South African Depression and Anxiety Group shares 4 Ways to Make Mental Health Matter this Mandela Day
4 Ways to Make Mental Health Matter this Mandela Day

On 18 July, South Africans are reminded that each of us has the power to make a difference.
For thousands of people, reaching out to SADAG is one of the hardest and bravest things they will ever do. It may be someone struggling with Depression, overwhelmed by Anxiety, a young person who feels completely alone, or someone on the edge of Suicide with nowhere else to turn.

What many people don't realise is that these services are only possible because of the generosity of people like you. SADAG receives no funding from government, meaning every call we answer, every counselling session we provide, and every life we help change is made possible through donations and partnerships.
Every month, we work to raise the funds needed to keep our free Suicide Helplines open so that anyone, anywhere in South Africa, can reach out for help without worrying about the cost.
This Mandela Day, you can help ensure that no call for help goes unanswered.

Give Your Time - Give 67 Minutes
Spend your 67 minutes with the SADAG team and experience community Mental Health in action. Invite your family, friends, colleagues to:
- Help paint and refresh their Community Counselling Containers in Diepsloot and Ivory Park on Friday 17 July, where hundreds of people receive free counselling and support each week.
- Visit their Call Centre in either JHB, CT or KZN, meet their incredible volunteer counsellors, and see how thousands of calls, WhatsApp messages and online requests for help are answered every month.
- Join their School Outreach Team and experience how they're helping learners, teachers and parents have life-changing conversations about Mental Health and Suicide Prevention.
Give Hope - Donate
A single act of generosity can become someone's lifeline.
Whether you choose to give R67 in honour of Mandela Day, make a once-off donation, or become a monthly supporter, every contribution helps SADAG provide free Mental Health support to people who need it most.

Give What You Have - Donate in Kind
Sometimes making a difference isn't about money, it's about sharing what you already have.
Come and Connect
This Mandela Day, visit the SADAG team at Rosebank Mall on Saturday, 18 July from 9am - 4pm, and spend some time with them, learn more about their work, meet the team and see the impact your support makes every single day.

Together, We Can Make Every Minute Matter
Nelson Mandela reminded us that "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others."
This Mandela Day, whether you give R67, donate goods, or give 67 minutes of your time, you become part of someone's story of hope.
Because no one should have to face a Mental Health crisis alone.
Together, let's answer more calls. Reach more communities. Support more families. Save more lives.
