Theatre Producer Bernard Jay's Shows receive 19 Nominations

On the 11th of March 2019, the Naledi Awards Nominees for the year 2018 were revealed at The Fringe, Joburg Theatre.
The Naledi Theatre Awards have been in existence for 15 years and are recognised as the Premier Awards Event on the Gauteng Theatre Calendar.
The Color Purple, which premiered in South Africa at Joburg Theatre in February 2018, was honoured with thirteen nominations: Best Production of a Musical by Joburg Theatre and Bernard Jay; Janice Honeyman for Best Director of a Musical; Best Supporting/Featured Performance In A Musical - Female to Lelo Ramasimong as Shug Avery, Neo Motaung as Sofia and Sebe Leotlela as Nettie; Best Supporting/Featured Performance In A Musical - Male to Yamikani Mahaka-Phiri as Harpo; Best Lead Performance In A Musical - Female to Didintle Khunou as Celie; Best Lead Performance In A Musical - Male to Aubrey Poo as Mister; Rowan Bakker for Best Musical Director; Oscar Buthelezi for Best Original Choreography in a Play/Musical; Sarah Roberts for both Best Set Design and Best Costume Design; and Richard Smith for Best Sound Design.
The Joburg Theatre and Bernard Jay 2018 pantomime Janice Honeyman’s Snow White was nominated for: Best Director to Janice Honeyman and Timothy Le Roux; Best Supporting/Featured Performance In A Musical – Male to Desmond Dube as the Dame and Ben Voss as the Evil Queen; Best Lead Performance In A Musical - Female to Kiruna-Lind Devar as Snow White; Best Lead Performance In A Musical – Male to Tshepo Ncokoane as Prince Charming; and Best Sound Design to Akhona Bozo.
