Transformative Impact: Physiotherapy Students from Wits University Make a Difference
At Wits University, 50 dedicated 3rd and 4th-year physiotherapy students have gone above and beyond their academic commitments to give back to the community.
Each week, these compassionate young people devote their time to working with children who face gross motor difficulties, bringing joy and significant improvements to their lives. They arrive at the Afrika Tikkun ECD centre in Braamfontein promptly every week and arrange a roster so that everone is involved.
Led by the inspiring Francesca Michael, a 3rd-year Physiotherapy student, the team of students engages with the children at Uthando Centre through a series of structured physiotherapy activities. Their consistent presence and dedication have not only created a fun and supportive environment but also resulted in remarkable progress in the children's gross motor development.
The impact of these sessions has been profound on the Afrika Tikkun Bambanani programme. The children eagerly anticipate the weekly visits, finding both joy and benefit in the activities.
