Oh, thanks. Um, the purpose of today quite extraordinary, unusual,
12 seconds
uh, to set the tone. I think, um, most of you have seen my hundreds of emails sent to you all about Tita, Mrs. SA,
20 seconds
second princess. I bombard you. Thank you for your interest and continued support and the publicity. Um, I think
30 seconds
to set the tone very importantly, as I said, extraordinary, absolutely extraordinary, Telita is one of a
38 seconds
handful of South Africans who will be making a way to Mount Everest base camp.
43 seconds
Um, factually, just about 20 South Africans have been to Everest over the many years. Womenwise, Tita will be the
52 seconds
seventh South African woman to go to Mount Everest.
56 seconds
Um, Tita is here to share her story with you. I could tell you her entire life story, but that's not my job. Um, I'm
1 minute, 4 seconds
going to hand over to you. Um, I hope you feel um the true potential and how she lives
1 minute, 13 seconds
her life to true purpose. Um, having been particularly on this Mrs. South Africa journey and how that changes
1 minute, 21 seconds
someone's life completely. And so I hand over to Tita and I do hope that you each and every one of you will have a little
1 minute, 29 seconds
bit of inspiration when you leave here today. Thank you. Over to you, Tita.
1 minute, 37 seconds
Thank you, Isadora. Um, and from my side as well, thank you so very much for taking time out of your busy schedules
1 minute, 44 seconds
to be here today for my purpose-driven ascent. Um, just for those quickly, the bathrooms are just around the corner
1 minute, 53 seconds
here and there's another set of bathrooms at the back there. If you want anything to drink or still to eat,
1 minute, 59 seconds
please help yourselves, but we do have waiters that will also be able to help you. So, a purposedriven event. Um, a
2 minutes, 8 seconds
little bit about me. So I started my hiking career in 2007 and I
2 minutes, 17 seconds
couldn't have done it without the support of my husband. He actually took me on my first hike. I wasn't a hiker at
2 minutes, 24 seconds
all. When I grew up, we did adventure stuff like we did camping with my family and I grew up in a little town called
2 minutes, 32 seconds
Eden Bell and then we moved to a farm and we went on holidays, we visited camps and so forth, but never really did
2 minutes, 39 seconds
any extraordinary things like climbing and hiking. But my husband introduced me to hiking.
2 minutes, 47 seconds
And my first hike, I remember at 2007,
2 minutes, 50 seconds
the hike's name was Sarin Deputy. And I arrived there with a bag full of Tupperware and that is an absolute no no
3 minutes
when you go on a hike because every every gram counts. So and I was the only lady in this camp and we were about 10.
3 minutes, 9 seconds
So halfway through they saw okay this poor woman is struggling. So they threw out my bag and divided everything in
3 minutes, 19 seconds
their bags to help me carry mine. And I mean that was from clothing, food,
3 minutes, 25 seconds
underwear, everything. These guys were helping me. But that brought on the fire within me to do hiking. And from there,
3 minutes, 34 seconds
we've done more than 40 hikes. I've done the Otter Trail. We've done the Fish River hiking trail in Olivia, which is
3 minutes, 41 seconds
fully self-sufficient. We had to carry our own tent, water, clothing,
3 minutes, 46 seconds
everything. Um, so our bags were about 20 kg that we had to carry ourselves.
3 minutes, 52 seconds
And I've also summited Kjaro in 2022 um on the 29th of August in 2022 on my
4 minutes
father's birthday. He passed away in 2021 due to co complications. So that was a tribute to my father. But when we
4 minutes, 9 seconds
summited I thought now what's now what am I going to do next? And that is where the seed was born for Everest base camp.
4 minutes, 21 seconds
And we booked it about two years ago, paid a deposit, and here I am. Mrs.
4 minutes, 27 seconds
South Africa happened last year, and I just said, you know what? I'm going to use the Mrs. South Africa platform and
4 minutes, 34 seconds
my crown to create that awareness around my causes that I stand for, but to do it with courage and to show people and
4 minutes, 42 seconds
especially women and our youth of today that if you've got something that you are so profoundly in love with and want
4 minutes, 50 seconds
to bring change, you can. It just takes that one step of courage and you can conquer your dreams. And I will be
4 minutes, 59 seconds
forever grateful for Mrs. South Africa for allowing me to be brave and to find my voice because I could never speak
5 minutes, 8 seconds
about being a victim of GBD and that is why I've chosen shattering shackles as well as my cause and that voice I cannot
5 minutes, 18 seconds
I cannot let it die because we need to talk about um human trafficking and human trafficking and GBV do go hand in
5 minutes, 25 seconds
hand and human trafficking approximately 55,000 people are living in modern
5 minutes, 33 seconds
slavery in South Africa today. It's a reality in our country that we cannot ignore and that is why it's so important
5 minutes, 40 seconds
for me to create that awareness. Only one in every 250 victims are rescued
5 minutes, 49 seconds
and annually 1% is rescued. That is horrific stats that people don't know about and are not aware of. So for me,
5 minutes, 59 seconds
shattering shackles is a personal connection and why I chose shattering shackles. I saw a live interview with
6 minutes, 8 seconds
Nikopanager and Niko Banagio is a well-known actor in South Africa and he had an interview with one of the actors
6 minutes, 16 seconds
of sound of freedom and I commented on that Instagram live and I said how can I get involved and the only organization
6 minutes, 24 seconds
that actually came back to me was shattering shackles and that is where our journey started and that was about two years ago um so it's just inevitable
6 minutes, 32 seconds
that I chose shattering shackles as my cause that I I'm walking for my second course that I that I've chosen is Green
6 minutes, 40 seconds
Tracks K9 anti- poaching unit. So rhino poaching over 10,000 rhinos are being
6 minutes, 47 seconds
poached in the past 15 years. And because we are in the tourism industry,
6 minutes, 54 seconds
it is our responsibility to do something so that we can sustain our wildlife for future generations to come. If we don't
7 minutes, 2 seconds
do that, who is going to do it? So, it's a responsibility and that is why I've chosen green tracks as my preferred um
7 minutes, 11 seconds
anti- poaching canine unit to create that awareness around it. When I did Kilamanjaro, I also told myself that
7 minutes, 20 seconds
when we do things like that, I have to do it for something. And we did Kilamanjaro for green tracks as well when we when we summited Kili and we also did it for Utandi that that year.
7 minutes, 32 seconds
But for this climb, it's human trafficking and anti- poaching.
7 minutes, 37 seconds
It is I'm going to give you a little bit of information about Everest so that you can get a feel of how it's going to be
7 minutes, 45 seconds
for me. So Everest, it's 5,364 m altitude high. And just to compare it with Kily, Kily is 5,800.
7 minutes, 55 seconds
So Everest is just below Key. Um and we are doing it from the south side from
8 minutes, 2 seconds
the Nepal side. The there is a north side which is based in China but we are doing it the Nepal side. The first
8 minutes, 10 seconds
summit was in 1953 by Sir Edmund Hillary and his sherpa sensing lord life from
8 minutes, 18 seconds
Nepal and from there many have done Everest. Annually it's about 30 to 40,000 and 3 to 10 people die annually on Everest as well.
8 minutes, 31 seconds
Yeah, it's a reality. Um but we are being safe. We do we are taking out tablets um dioxin dioxin which is helps
8 minutes, 41 seconds
for um altitude sickness. We are using asthma which is the South African brand.
8 minutes, 47 seconds
We are doing it in premons which is during March and May um because then the mountain is still relatively clean and
8 minutes, 56 seconds
not a lot of people have done it. So it's rainy, it's um the snow has been fallen so it is going to be terribly
9 minutes, 2 seconds
cold. um plus -20 um nighttime temperatures and during the day 0 to -10.
9 minutes, 13 seconds
The what we the main problem that you will experience on Mount Everest will be altitude sickness, frostbite,
9 minutes, 22 seconds
hypothermia. But that is the reason why we are doing um while we are actually using the tablets. Um so because I don't
9 minutes, 30 seconds
want to come back and have to fly me back because of altitude sickness. It is a reality. It can happen and you cannot actually prepare for it. Um I'm doing
9 minutes, 39 seconds
exercising. We are swimming to try and get the lungs stronger. But you will only know when on that day in that moment if your body is going to handle this the circumstances on that mountain.
9 minutes, 50 seconds
But I've done ke and we didn't experience any altitude sickness. A mild headache was the worst symptoms that I
9 minutes, 57 seconds
that I got. So, I'm very positive it's going to go very well. Um, when we do summit base camp, this is just how base
10 minutes, 6 seconds
camp will look. We will actually I'm going to plant our flag right there.
10 minutes, 14 seconds
And and from there, I'm going to have a view of Liy Kumbu ice. The Kumba ice is very
10 minutes, 23 seconds
dangerous and that's why we can't go further than um base camp because you have to be at the climber to actually go over the kumbukhole.
10 minutes, 31 seconds
Um I'm also going to see the south bays of the tip of Everest which I'm very excited about. We are going to be
10 minutes, 38 seconds
staying in little tea houses along the way. So these tea houses are very primitive but I can say it is little bit
10 minutes, 46 seconds
better than staying on a tent on the floor like we did with Kilimaro. So, um I'm very happy that we are going to be
10 minutes, 54 seconds
in a closed area where it's going to be a little bit warmer, especially if it's -20° C. This is how my my two weeks are
11 minutes, 3 seconds
going to be looking. On the 26th, we arrive at um Katanju. Then we're going
11 minutes, 10 seconds
to take a short flight to Luka and from there our track starts. And on March
11 minutes, 16 seconds
7th, we will be um at base camp. On March 6th, we will be at Everest base camp. So, we're actually going to be at
11 minutes, 25 seconds
Horip. And then on the same day, we go up to Everest base camp and come back to Horaship and then sleep over there. And
11 minutes, 33 seconds
March 7, we'll be making our descent back to Lucla. Um yeah, so looking very forward to that. And we are staying in a quite a nice hotel when we arrive.
11 minutes, 45 seconds
um back at Kbandu and I'm going to be looking very forward to a warm bath and washing my hair.
11 minutes, 52 seconds
So yes, I am doing this for higher ground and for a higher purpose. And this isn't just a client for me. It's
11 minutes, 59 seconds
truly about fulfilling my purpose and creating that awareness around human trafficking and anti- poaching and to
12 minutes, 6 seconds
just put a spotlight on what is the reality not only in the world but in South Africa. the small small little
12 minutes, 14 seconds
continents on the huge African continent, the small little country on this continent to say that we as women
12 minutes, 22 seconds
can do it. And especially with only being the seventh woman that's going to be doing this, I want to say to that
12 minutes, 30 seconds
little girl, girl, you can do it. If I can, you can do it. But believe in yourself that you can be a warrior of
12 minutes, 38 seconds
your strength within you. This is a journey of courage and purpose more than a track. This is a national moment that
12 minutes, 46 seconds
I am going to carry our flag to the world's highest stage Everest space camp.
12 minutes, 52 seconds
But I'm sure all of you would like to follow my journey. So I am where it will where Wi-Fi will be permitting and
13 minutes
signal. I'm going to be doing lives. I will share photos and do videos as well
13 minutes, 8 seconds
as much as I can. But I'm going to really try my best. Um, my phone is already roaming. I've got everything sorted. It's just up to signal there.
13 minutes, 17 seconds
You can follow me on all of my social media pages which is and it's @ita wasen Instagram, Facebook and Tik Tok and I will share as much as I can.
13 minutes, 28 seconds
And this climb is a legacy for me that I want to leave behind. Um, and if this changes one girl or woman's life, one
13 minutes, 38 seconds
person's life, every step of Everest will be worth it all. And this is not
13 minutes, 46 seconds
just the the finish line for me. This is for me a beacon of hope and of being a
13 minutes, 52 seconds
warrior for us in South Africa. I'm going to play you a short little video.
14 minutes, 19 seconds
Heat. Heat.
14 minutes, 34 seconds
Thank you everyone for being here today for you.
14 minutes, 41 seconds

14 minutes, 58 seconds
event today. Um, now we know the purpose of Instagram is to reach lives from Everest.
15 minutes, 6 seconds
Um, Tita mentioned that she's in the tourism industry. She is a serial entrepreneur behind the crown. One of
15 minutes, 13 seconds
her businesses is a travel and tourism company. safaris, South Africa, our neighboring countries, even the Indian
15 minutes, 21 seconds
Ocean. Um, just to give you an idea of the rest of the program. Um, I think
15 minutes, 28 seconds
we'll do quick intros, a round of intros and few uh questions for anyone. If anyone would like to do interviews, you are welcome to and take photos. Um,
15 minutes, 42 seconds
yeah, I think let's send the mic around.

18 minutes, 33 seconds
past two years. Like Isidora say, a wonderful journey to be with her.
18 minutes, 37 seconds
Right. And I'm the media and publicity guru as you saw in my caricature two weeks ago.
18 minutes, 45 seconds
Okay. Um I think we'll start with questions. Um I'd like to pose one question for you. What must your fitness level be like to do this?
18 minutes, 56 seconds
Isora, you you have to be you have to be a little bit fit. There is going to be challenging days whereum There's going
19 minutes, 4 seconds
to be steep climbs, but you don't have to be ex extremely good. Just at a level that you can keep your pace um because
19 minutes, 13 seconds
you are going to be walking very slow because of altitude sickness. But we are exercising every day trying to get the
19 minutes, 20 seconds
legs as fit as possible and the lungs with swimming as as you know as strong as possible.
19 minutes, 27 seconds
Anyone for questions? Yes.
19 minutes, 34 seconds
Yeah.
19 minutes, 38 seconds
Um I think it's very inspiring what you're doing.
19 minutes, 42 seconds
My mind, but I do upload those mountains. I do upload them. Um I have about two questions. When I was watching
19 minutes, 50 seconds
your videos and I was listening to you speak, um I'm enjoying the passion that you have for the mountains and for hiking. It's very different to see a
19 minutes, 58 seconds
princess be interested in dropping it out in the wild. It's very different.
20 minutes, 3 seconds
It's interesting. I like that. So, my first question is, would it feel like failure if you got there and your body
20 minutes, 10 seconds
let you down and the aptitude and that business just got you? Would that feel like failure? And what would be the ultimate accomplishment? I mean, you
20 minutes, 19 seconds
would have climbed the mountain. What would be the ripple effect of you having climbed that mountain and planted that flag?
20 minutes, 29 seconds
It would be very sad for me, but if it doesn't happen, it wasn't meant to be.
20 minutes, 34 seconds
And I will accept that. For me, planting planting that flag,
20 minutes, 43 seconds
because it's so close to my heart, these causes, I know I'm going to be emotional when I plant that flag. I'm carrying
20 minutes, 51 seconds
that little girl, that victim that I was.
20 minutes, 56 seconds
That is why I'm doing it. And when I turn my back around, I'm walking back with that strength within me to say,
21 minutes, 4 seconds
"You, you did it. You are a warrior."
21 minutes, 7 seconds
For every single South African lady, I'm doing this for. And I will bring that home.
21 minutes, 16 seconds
Any other questions?
21 minutes, 28 seconds
You're on record saying I entered in South Africa because I fles
21 minutes, 42 seconds
South Africa was to create awareness for the causes that I stand for and having a platform and then and Mrs. South Africa
21 minutes, 50 seconds
giving me my voice to actually be able to do that and to stand on a platform and to be in front of all of you today
21 minutes, 58 seconds
is exactly why I entered Mrs. South Africa because that allowed me to be here today if it wasn't for this sash and the crown I wouldn't be here today.
22 minutes, 7 seconds
So I'm forever grateful that I made that choice to step into my purpose and now today I'm walking in it which I'm very proud of.
22 minutes, 18 seconds
you speak of a platform and giving you a voice. So I think that kind of changes the perception of what beauty pageantss are all about right so Everest itself
22 minutes, 27 seconds
you've summited key Everest itself was it always a dream since you started hiking or is it something that came
22 minutes, 34 seconds
about on your journey with Mrs. South Africa and finding true purpose and potential is it was never on my bucket list.
22 minutes, 47 seconds
I didn't even think about it. But when I summited Kilimanjaro, the seed was
22 minutes, 53 seconds
planted and we did pay our deposit. But I wasn't sure why I was going to be
23 minutes
doing Everest. I knew that I wanted to do it for something, but because I I wasn't even still involved in human
23 minutes, 7 seconds
trafficking because I haven't got my voice yet. I've never spoken out about what happened to me. Last year was the
23 minutes, 14 seconds
first time ever that I that I got the courage to speak up. And so, yes, Mrs.
23 minutes, 21 seconds
South Africa gave me the courage to choose who I'm taking with on this journey that I am creating awareness for
23 minutes, 30 seconds
and that is human trafficking Daleita
23 minutes, 42 seconds
after you've accomplished this this great feat of summiting Kajjara I mean Mount Everest what's it going to be
23 minutes, 50 seconds
after that what's the next big biggest goal or what is the next big opportunity that you're going to take?
23 minutes, 59 seconds
I thought about it because that is something in my mind and although I'm doing Everest base camp I I don't want
24 minutes, 8 seconds
to put my my body to the extreme to actually sum it cuz people do actually die. So my next big mountain will be
24 minutes, 18 seconds
Mort Blanc and that is the highest mountain in Europe which is a little bit lower obviously as ever space camp but that is my next one.
24 minutes, 34 seconds
What more are you doing to share this journey with the people and I I believe you should write a book conquering the mountain. I believe you should share
24 minutes, 41 seconds
this with people. It's very interesting how you're conquering these mountains and the passion you have for it.
24 minutes, 48 seconds
Thank you. I appreciate that. Um and yes, I will think about it.
24 minutes, 56 seconds
Are the mountains a kind of like metaphor for the challenges you have to face in your life and this is a way of overcoming them?
25 minutes, 4 seconds
Yes, absolutely. Um with every with every step I take on a mountain, it's It's shedding little by
25 minutes, 14 seconds
little pieces coming off of me because I was for so long carrying this bag of
25 minutes, 20 seconds
baggage with me and conquering a mountain. I'm leaving one baggage at a time on each mountain. So I don't know
25 minutes, 29 seconds
where it will stop though. But that is absolutely the truth. It's a metaphor for me and I only realized it very late but I know it today.
25 minutes, 45 seconds
Ta you've touched a little bit on this but uh if possible could you expand on the training regime you know and just
25 minutes, 54 seconds
the diet that's also uh required just for us to understand how intense the preparations have been.
26 minutes, 4 seconds
Thank you. So I am also a diabetic and I'm lactose intolerant.
26 minutes, 9 seconds
Um So my eating will I have to take some of my food with and my snacks with because they won't cater for that on the
26 minutes, 16 seconds
mountain. So my exercise regime is we train every single day. Um I do swimming once a week. I ride bike once a week and
26 minutes, 25 seconds
I run once a week. And the rest of the days I actually do physical gym work. training my legs, training my arms,
26 minutes, 32 seconds
training your abs, your back because you are still going to be carrying a little backpack with your water in and a raincoats and um first aid kit and so
26 minutes, 41 seconds
forth. So your your abs and your back has to be strong and sleeping on a little mattress like that, your back is
26 minutes, 49 seconds
going to get straight. So you have to um and then eating wise I I'm I'm eating my normal diet. Um morning is my my oats or
26 minutes, 59 seconds
I'll have lactofree yogurt with some sugar-free musli and during the day it will be low GI
27 minutes, 6 seconds
food that I that I follow my diet with eat a lot of protein and I also will be taking with protein shake just for that
27 minutes, 13 seconds
extra little bit of protein along the way to give me that energy you speak of the backpack
27 minutes, 21 seconds
yes descri tell us paint us that picture of a backpack on a normal hike
27 minutes, 27 seconds
normal mountain versus Everest and the terrain. Yes, Isa, while this is on the screen,
27 minutes, 36 seconds
you can go to one where I'm wearing the orange backpack.
27 minutes, 41 seconds
Yes. Go on, make Yes. So, this is my normal backpack that I wear. That's about 20 kg. So, I've got
27 minutes, 50 seconds
my bladder in there. I've got everything is in there except here. We don't wear we didn't have to carry a tent. This is
27 minutes, 58 seconds
actually on the a trail. Um, but that one is packed fully with all of our with with all of our kit. My food is in
28 minutes, 5 seconds
there, clothing is in there. Um, my sleeping bag is in there as well as my raincoats. Every everything that you need is in that backpack of mine.
28 minutes, 16 seconds
Whereas by Everest, because they want to support the community, they have sherpers. So the sherpers will carry
28 minutes, 24 seconds
that bag and I will be carrying a day pack. So, it will be a whole lot lighter, but we are only allowed, and
28 minutes, 32 seconds
that's the scary part, 10 kg on the mountain. So, we're going to have to pack very small. And on a mountain with
28 minutes, 41 seconds
- 10°, you're going to have to wear like layers upon layers upon layers. So, I need to go look for very thin thermal
28 minutes, 49 seconds
wear so that I can pack it as small as I can to get as much as I can in a 10 kg bag. But the backpack itself, it will
28 minutes, 57 seconds
probably be about 3 to four kg that I will wear on my back with my bladder that will be filled with water.
29 minutes, 8 seconds
Question. Yeah. Are you done with beauty patience?
29 minutes, 18 seconds
We might see you suffering again.
29 minutes, 21 seconds
Question two. What is your advice to young upcoming girls who wants to be at you?
29 minutes, 31 seconds
Okay. Um,
29 minutes, 33 seconds
you know, I I don't know where my path will lead, but for now I'm done with pageantss. Um, I've got a crown and I've got a sash. So, what more is there? Um,
29 minutes, 46 seconds
and but for for the youth of today, I truly want to tell them that even if you've experienced adversity,
29 minutes, 56 seconds
you can come out of that circumstances,
29 minutes, 59 seconds
but it's a choice you have to make. And if you've made that choice and you step out of it, you can conquer anything and
30 minutes, 7 seconds
you can conquer mountains. But you have to be brave and you have to believe in yourself. And nobody but nobody should
30 minutes, 15 seconds
steal that away from you because it's up to you if you're going to come out there or not.
30 minutes, 27 seconds
Um Tita with regards you mentioned your physical um and dietary planning um
30 minutes, 34 seconds
towards this um you know this um this feat with regards to your spiritual and mental preparation for it because that's
30 minutes, 43 seconds
going to play a big part just as much as your physical preparation and the physical side of things. What have you done? Um well, have there has there been
30 minutes, 52 seconds
any physical or mental preparation for this?
30 minutes, 57 seconds
Yes. So, I am a Christian and um my faith is very important to me. So, um I
31 minutes, 4 seconds
will be and I will be asking everyone to pray for me as well um because I am going to need it. Me and my husband, the two of us are doing it together. Um, but
31 minutes, 14 seconds
that forms a big part of of what I'm doing. And I wouldn't have done this if I didn't have the voice inside of me
31 minutes, 22 seconds
that said, "Yes, you can. I will be with you. You can do it." So, faith is very important and that also keeps me grounded.
31 minutes, 31 seconds
Um, so, um, mental preparation.
31 minutes, 36 seconds
I've got a coach that really helps me with it. But because we've conquered Kilimanjaro,
31 minutes, 44 seconds
I would say I'm little bit prepared, but you still don't know what is coming. But mental strength is something that comes
31 minutes, 54 seconds
on that day that you have to tell yourself why am I doing this? Remember why you're doing this. You are not going to give up because there I can tell you
32 minutes, 2 seconds
now it's going to be tough. It's going to be hard. But that is why I'm doing it. And that is what will get me through and will make me mentally strong to push
32 minutes, 9 seconds
through. And because I've got my husband next to me.
32 minutes, 17 seconds
Okay. I had my question.
32 minutes, 22 seconds
So I guess the question is then
32 minutes, 34 seconds
being the second princess, right? and obviously having this platform to be
32 minutes, 41 seconds
able to kind of speak to something and I guess having that be linked with your personal journey.
32 minutes, 50 seconds
How then do you feel like um going forward cuz obviously you would
32 minutes, 58 seconds
have achieved you've achieved the first task obviously to give you the platform and then you would have achieved this personal I guess aspect to it. What
33 minutes, 7 seconds
would then the next step be to kind of echo that I guess support to these initiatives?
33 minutes, 18 seconds
Thank you. We always have initiatives um that will go forward. So with our bushes foundation um we support various
33 minutes, 27 seconds
organizations but we will continue to support shattering shackles and the fight against human trafficking and because we have little soft twist that
33 minutes, 35 seconds
we make a portion of that goes towards the foundation and from there we disperse it to the different um organizations like shattering shackles
33 minutes, 43 seconds
and the fight against anti- virgining K9. But that brings me to this little one. So, this is my little mascot. It's
33 minutes, 51 seconds
a yak that will go with me. And my team um made this for me. And a little his
34 minutes
name is, and I'm going to ask our lady to please pronounce it for me.
34 minutes, 12 seconds
And that means strength.
34 minutes, 15 seconds
So, this little one will also be my strength during my time up the mountain.
34 minutes, 21 seconds
And we are also going to be selling this little one on our on our um online shop as the little mascot, the little yak that's going on this journey with us.
34 minutes, 32 seconds
So, yes, they will always be something that I will continue to try and create that awareness among the horses that matter.
34 minutes, 44 seconds
Sorry.
34 minutes, 47 seconds
I apologize to one last question from my side. Um,
34 minutes, 55 seconds
South Africa versus Everest. Yesterday we heard 42% unemployment in South Africa. They're creating jobs on Everest with Sherpers carrying the bags.
35 minutes, 6 seconds
Yes. But the extremity of the temperature here, we are used to -3°.
35 minutes, 14 seconds
Yeah, probably at the most these days going to minus 20.
35 minutes, 19 seconds
How do you plan to manage? That is going to be my biggest challenge because on on key and that wasn't even nearly as cold as that.
35 minutes, 30 seconds
It was - 12 summiting and I was freezing at night. But um I've got little heat
35 minutes, 38 seconds
packs cuz that's what I've learned from Key. I didn't take that with um is little heat packs that I can you press it and then it becomes warm and you put
35 minutes, 46 seconds
it in your sleeping bag before you go to to bed and it makes you look warm and as much layers as possible. And my husband
35 minutes, 53 seconds
and I also decided to get those sleeping bags that you can attach so that his body heat can make me warm. Yeah.
36 minutes, 1 second
Because we didn't do that on Kenyan.
36 minutes, 3 seconds
There was one night I'm going to tell you this quickly. There was one evening I was freezing. I couldn't get warm and I was shivering and he climbed into my sleeping bag to try and keep me warm.
36 minutes, 15 seconds
But his half was lying outside of the sleeping bag and the other half was inside the sleeping bag trying to warm
36 minutes, 21 seconds
me up. So that night I got a very good rest but he didn't.
36 minutes, 27 seconds
But yes, that's going to be the most challenging side for me is the cold but we're going to push through.
36 minutes, 34 seconds
Any other questions? That's it from my side. Good. Good.
36 minutes, 40 seconds
I'd like to congratulate you for your journey coming this far and really for overcoming and proving that you a person
36 minutes, 47 seconds
is able to achieve much more than what the circumstances are and which makes me curious to ask you that what did it take
36 minutes, 55 seconds
for you to overcome the human trafficking you know um incident? Um and
37 minutes, 2 seconds
also would you link that to your um fearlessness of always going for
37 minutes, 10 seconds
something bigger and greater that challenges you more um that you are able to you know always prove to yourself
37 minutes, 17 seconds
that I can be able to and I'm asking this because that is probably one of the lessons that younger ladies or even
37 minutes, 25 seconds
ladies that are in GBV kind of a setup can maybe take from you.
37 minutes, 32 seconds
So my link is GBB. So I wasn't traffic but GBB and human trafficking go hand in hand.
37 minutes, 42 seconds
And that first step to start talking and to voicing what happened to me was very difficult. It was very emotional journey
37 minutes, 50 seconds
for me. But I realized if I don't speak about it, it's going to die with me. And what purpose did I have when I was born?
37 minutes, 58 seconds
So I realized that I was born for a reason and whatever happened to me happened to me for a reason and I'm not
38 minutes, 8 seconds
going to get stuck being a victim. I'm going to be stuck as a warrior out of what happened to me and I have to share
38 minutes, 14 seconds
that story and that is why I have to share that story especially for the youth of today because yes
38 minutes, 24 seconds
nothing should nothing should hold you back. you are holding yourself back and conquering mountains is that for me and
38 minutes, 31 seconds
I will always always look for something to challenge myself to become a better version of myself and um in Mrs. South Africa, there was one lady that said,
38 minutes, 41 seconds
"You must become the the version of the best avatar who you can be." And for me,
38 minutes, 47 seconds
by conquering a mountain and challenging me every single time, you grow and you become another best version of yourself.
38 minutes, 54 seconds
Because I don't think we will ever fully be the best version of who we are meant to be. Because do we know really what
39 minutes, 2 seconds
that means? So, I will be pushing myself every single time to see where I can go with what I know who I am.
39 minutes, 16 seconds
I always stretch uh Talita and I'm going to possibly stretch you a bit today if it's okay with you. Talita, as you take
39 minutes, 24 seconds
each step towards Mount Everest, what inner shackle are you choosing to shatter first?
39 minutes, 33 seconds
And will that freedom change the way you show up for the rest of your life?
39 minutes, 42 seconds
Yes. So the shackles that I had to shackle in my life I am that's something
39 minutes, 49 seconds
that you that goes on with you. Um and with being in GBB and stepping out of that it's a daily thing that I have to sacrifice and think about consciously.
40 minutes, 1 second
Um, that is something that I shake off because there are days that I dive to myself of why am I still doing this? Why
40 minutes, 9 seconds
am I talking about it? And that you have to shake off and remind yourself I'm doing this because there's someone else that this happened to. But it's also
40 minutes, 19 seconds
because of what happened to me. I I developed an eating disorder. And with that is a daily choice that I have to
40 minutes, 27 seconds
make to say that I'm not going to go back to where I was. And that is a shackle that will be with me forever,
40 minutes, 35 seconds
but it's getting smaller and smaller and smaller every single day.
40 minutes, 46 seconds
I think that's it on the questions. Um, thank you.
40 minutes, 52 seconds
Thank you, Isadora today. Had a coat for a talk show.
40 minutes, 58 seconds
That that might be a plan instead of a book. A talking show. Definitely.
41 minutes, 4 seconds
I've got you covered. Production.
41 minutes, 8 seconds
It's not cheap. The production's not cheap. Sorry.
41 minutes, 12 seconds
Um but yeah, um I think for anyone who would like photographs, we will do it at
41 minutes, 18 seconds
the banner over there. um interviews you are welcome to and please feel free to
41 minutes, 25 seconds
have some more food and I thank you again for your time. I will share a link to a Google Drive uh for your electronic press pack. There is a press release,
41 minutes, 36 seconds
there's photographs,
41 minutes, 38 seconds
uh the video will be there, the presentation will be there, there's maps of Everest, there's Toita's itinerary, there's just about everything you need.
41 minutes, 46 seconds
Um, and what I will do as and when Tita does have signal on Everest, if she
41 minutes, 53 seconds
does, if she is able to send anything to me, I will upload it onto the Google Drive. And to you, the privileged few who have made the time to be here today,
42 minutes, 4 seconds
you'll get those updates um in with the link that I share. So, I thank you.
