What a fashionable story!
Phumelele Gwacela from the eThekwini Municipality’s Business Support, Tourism and Markets Unit together with the founder of G&D Apparel, Greg Wallis are seen judging the fashion storyboards received from hundreds of designer hopefuls wishing to be part of the annual Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) Mentorship programme commencing in February 2018.
Each year, hundreds try out but only 25 can be selected into the programme, after the judges have conducted interviews with the hopefuls and discussed the inspiration behind the storyboards they have submitted.
Both judges mutually agreed that it will be a difficult task to narrow down the field as the standard and creativity behind these young designers gets more exciting as each year passes. With the correct selection of the participating young designers, the Durban Fashion Fair itself is anticipated to be bigger and better.
