Wit Kasteel’s Music Video – Toegewyd, is here!
The popular rock group, Wit Kasteel, launched their new single, TOEGEWYD, which was very well received, during June 2020, to radio stations nationwide. This dynamic group is now releasing the music video of this song.
TOEGEWYD was created with the help of Muse Studios’s Hugo Ludik. “The song is about difficult times in life. The purpose is to encourage listeners to remain true to themselves during these times and not to give up,” they share about the meaning behind their long-waited new release. “Your past can not determine your future. A positive mind-set can. Difficult times build character. Don’t forget about these struggles, learn from it and use it to your advantage.”
The single, which can be described as commercial rock, has a catchy tune and will appeal to fans of all ages. According to the group this song is exactly what the public needs at this point in time. “We feel that the song has an important message, especially in our current situation. We have all felt uncertain about the future and have faced various difficulties in our lives. But we kept our chins up and continued to work hard to reach our goals.”
The video was produced by Damien Els and Steven Brooks Hartman, while Damien directed the video as well. The concept was originally Clemond’s (lead singer) idea. The story is about a dancer/ballerina (Cara-lee Crafford), who is frustrated and struggles with her routine. However, she stays committed and determined to reach her goal. The video was shot at a warehouse in Johannesburg.

The group consists of Clemond Gregory Dartnall (lead singer and rhythm guitarist), a normal family man who believes he inherited his love for golden oldies from his mother.
Ernst Nieuwoudt (lead guitarist), is originally from Paarl, but his roots are now nestled in Pretoria. He works at companies that develop and sell ERP systems and reveals that he also grew up in a very musical home.
Reinard Kruger (bassist and backing vocalist) is also from Pretoria. He draws his inspiration from other people’s stories for his own songs. Music has always been one of his great passions and he believes that it is something that has to be felt.
Waldemar Behr (drummer and singer) works for an IT company and shares that he feels much more comfortable behind the scenes than in the spotlight. He is also from Pretoria and reveals that even though his music career officially started in the church’s band, he decided to take on drums when his friends wanted to start a band at school.
“We feel that we are bringing a very unique sound to the market. We enjoy playing classic rock music because it tells the best stories and we want to share the best stories with our listeners”, they conclude.
TOEGEWYD is also the first release from their second album which will be available later this year.
