ZAAN SONNEKUS WITH HIS NEW MUSIC VIDEO, HOOG!
With the release of his latest music video, singer-songwriter Zaan Sonnekus once again shows that he is an artist to be reckoned with.
“HOOG is about searching for yourself, through the highs and lows in life, until you find your feet. It is a constant process that we tried to capture in this video. I run through a forest and a city and collide with people and nature... and I fall through the music video, time, courage and thoughts, until I get up and start searching again,” the rock sensation explains about the inspiration behind this impressive video, which promises to take you on an unforgettable visual and emotional journey.
The video, produced by Wian van der Walt and Francois Roux, was filmed in various locations, including a nature reserve in Alberton, the city, his own home in Pretoria and in Krugersdorp (where the bungee jumping scene was shot). “I think it’s visually strong and I like the fact that it tells a story and do not only consist of performance shots like in the past,” he shares.
HOOG, produced by Tertius Human of the CoolerBox Brothers, is an alternative folk song written by the twenty-two-year-old Pretorian, with his artistic collection of tattoos himself, and can be described as a hopeful feel-good song with darker elements.
It is the second single from his upcoming album and follows hot on the heels of his hit, Ek Kan Net Bid, which was released earlier this year. Both these singles can be heard on every big radio station in the country.
Zaan grew up in Bloemfontein and studied Music Production at COPA after school. He has been working in the music industry for five years and this versatile musician clearly revolutionizing the Afrikaans rock industry. He enjoyed working with a professional team of people on his new video and he believes that it will resonate with audiences of all ages.
Exciting news for fans, is that the artist will be opening for Spoegwolf at PARK ACOUSTICS on 3 October 2021. Doors open at 09h00 and the shows start at 10h00.
