The fifth and final unmissable episode of the digital project takes viewers “behind the scenes and beyond” with the Alfa Romeo F1 Team as they compete in the most popular motor racing contest in the world. The compelling Alfa Romeo docuseries has thrilled all motorsport fans and the merely curious who don’t regularly follow F1. It has now reached its epilogue, having experienced success for five engaging episodes: “Before we hit the ground”, “Trust is gained”, “The Hidden Backbone” and “Measuring the unmeasurable”.

Episode 5 is a veritable tribute to the most iconic of the international Formula 1 circuits. Monza is the spiritual home of Alfa Romeo; more than 100 years since its inauguration, it is now known as the “Temple of Speed”, the setting for exciting sports events that have written indelible chapters in the history of motorsport. On this track, Alfa Romeo won the first Formula 1 title in history on September 3, 1950, with the Alfetta 158 driven by Nino Farina. The rest is history: Tazio Nuvolari, Juan Manuel Fangio and many other heroic drivers contributed to Alfa Romeo’s exciting sporting tradition during a century of great social and motoring evolution.

According to those who have had the opportunity to test themselves out on this track since 1922, Monza is a different experience from all the others. It’s extremely fast and technical, puts drivers’ skills to the test, and it’s extremely easy to make a mistake there. However, Monza not only challenges drivers’ skills; the entire team of engineers and mechanics are also called on to overhaul the car’s configuration and setup.

Analysis of the data and development is complex, and the resulting setup is carried out practically ad hoc, the aim being to put the driver in a position to express the best of himself on a track where the action never stops, where overtaking is possible at various points, and where the speed goes up to the limit, alternating with intense braking.

The alchemy created between the performances on the tarmac and the emotions of the fans packed into the stands breathes life into the magic of the Monza Grand Prix: an unmissable, unique event. Monza is the living museum of Italian motorsport, where Alfa Romeo has written the greatest chapters in its history of noble Italian sportsmanship.

Cristiano Fiorio, Alfa Romeo F1 Manager:

“Beyond the visible” was an exciting adventure. The episode on Monza, our spiritual home, ended a very successful project. I'd like to thank the entire team who were all very professional while working on it. We’re delighted that we’ve managed to bring the F1 pits to people other than the experts in the field. What's next? The only thing I can say is: stay tuned!"
