Event Review: Decorex Jhb 2017

Saturday 12 August 2017 - Day 4 and Decorex was still going strong with the amount of people in awe of what surrounded them. The energy, friendliness and assistance amazed me since they were well into their second last day, yet were still so eager to show the adoring crowds what they had to offer.

Art was everywhere and in everything, from the carefully sculptured bath tub to the actual art pieces that we would hang on our painted walls to admire.

People were marveling in their surroundings, taking it all in and just letting Decorex at the Gallagher Estate in Midrand advise them on how they can make their space a 'living dream.'

The exhibitors exuded a zest for their craft or service and this invited more people to surround them to view the amazing products from enticing mattresses, elegantly designed bathroom fittings, beautifully patterned fabrics to useful gadgets or cleaning items for the inside or outside of one's home.

We were greeted with so many brand names that belong in our home such as two of the co-sponsors: Plascon and Caesarstone.

Six halls dedicated for different purposes provided ease for the public, as well as security officers to assist and a detailed floor map on offer.

Demonstrations were taking place at almost every turn, Builders Warehouse provided a DIY Theatre and of course, good food was supplied in the form of restaurants, on-the-go eateries and cafés, so our browsing could be fueled by satisfying our hunger.

Hall 2 was actually a foodies dream! It consisted of kitchen fittings, utensils and appliances, as well as held a Gourmet Cooking Theatre by Whirlpool and Hirschs, allowed us to stop and have a cup of coffee by Illy and offered an array of cuisine.

With all that Decorex Johannesburg provided, a few things piqued my interest:

The Steam Mop from E Promos made me stop and watch as the lovely gentleman demonstrated how even a lazy person can get crayon markings of a wooden flooring - I have a busy 3 year old, so this was relevant for me - the entire process looked effortless!

The Frame TV from Samsung was a spectacular new product that had been launched at this year's Exhibition in Johannesburg, which means that we were amongst the first to see it!! To find out how this TV set can be a piece of art in your living space, click here.

Whilst browsing through the beautiful Art Gallery, I came across an amazing painter who was painting with his mouth. I found out that this was an organization called The Association of Mouth and Foot Painters, that actually had a few painters who would paint using their mouth or their feet. This was truly inspirational as it showed me that they did not allow their disability to inhibit their talent.

The electrifying energy conveyed throughout the exhibition, and made it an absolute delight to be at Decorex Johannesburg, this year. Couple that atmosphere with the beautiful surrounding, the creativity in the products and the awesome local talent, and Decorex has showed us how to make our living space our living dream.
