New Tinkies Half & Half
A childhood classic just got better!
Growing up in South Africa, one of my all time favourite snacks was Tinkies, and now the tradition of having it in the lunch box has been passed down to our son.
The mini vanilla sponge cake with a delicious creamy filled centre is available in various flavours from Fudge to Choc Nutty but the all time favourites are vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry.
Tinkies conducted some market research on their biggest target market, tweens, to see what they would most like to see Tinkies do next. They all wanted to know how they could have two of their best-loved flavours in one package.
Most brands would just stick a few different flavours in a box of 6 and call it a variety pack but Tinkies listened to exactly what the consumer was asking for and went the extra mile to give it to them.
The concept of a music mashup came to mind where popular DJs like DJ Earworm take two pre-recorded songs or a few songs (in his case) and overlay the vocal track of one song, on the instrumental of another song, seamlessly creating a whole new song.
Tinkies took their best sellers (the ones we all love) the chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla and mashed them up creating the new Half & Half.
Two totally new flavours: the Chocolate and Vanilla Mashup with a chocolate filling, and Vanilla and Strawberry Mashup with a strawberry filling.
The Mashup actually comes about as the sponge cake has only ever been vanilla, but is now how half vanilla and half chocolate or half vanilla and half strawberry.
My mind was already blown before I had even tasted it!
To launch the new product, Tinkies invited a few of their VIP customers, the tweens, to do a mashup in an actual recording studio. The youngsters had a chance to sing and record their favourite songs in studio before it was mashed up.
Kids of all ages had fun at the event including our 4 year old son who also had a chance at singing in studio to his favourites like High Hopes from Panic! at the Disco.
Tinkies have outdone themselves but I'm not going to say anymore - they are available at all retailers nationwide so grab a new Half & Half and flavour your imagination.
