Passion Fruit and Electric Lemonade with Buffalo Wings at San Antonio Spur
Family time is always well spent when there's good food and a place for the kids to play.
Spur Steak Ranches flagship store in Sandton City Mall, San Antonio Spur, has a large variety of delicious meals for the entire family, as well as an awesome indoor play area for the kids - which is equipped with helpful child minders but also has a camera installed in the area and screens in the restaurant, to help parents keep an eye on their children.
The store is Halaal certified by SANHA with Muslim prayer facilities in the restaurant, and is owned by the R&B Family Group who have several other franchise stores around Johannesburg and Durban.
As experienced from some of the other stores in the group, the service is excellent from the managers who mostly assisted us, Jason and Penny, to the rest of the staff in general.
The food always determines whether your experience goes from average to good or breaks the ceiling and is excellent. Well our experience at San Antonio Spur was nothing short of excellent.
Nachos which had a nice smokey taste with a little chilli sauce (chopped green chillies with olive oil, warmed in some peri-peri sauce) on the side, and Spur's famous durky sauce wings with blue cheese sauce for starters had us licking our fingers from the delicious flavours that oozed out of the two dishes.
A bubblegum milkshake and mini strawberry milkshake (for our little one) just kept the experience-o-meter at totally awesome.
The mains were something different for both of us, as we tried the fillet steak cheddamelt in a masala basting covered in mushroom sauce with chips and onion rings, and the other cheddamelt fillet steak in a normal BBQ basting covered in pepper sauce with hot veggies.
The masala basting paired with the mushroom sauce was perfection for the cheddamelt steak, and is now my new favourite dish on the Spur menu.
Our son tried the chicken and cheese pizza from the kiddies menu which he thoroughly enjoyed.
The best drink to complement such a good meal is always hard to find but the electric lemonade added the correct zing and the fresh pineapple gave a nice tropical feel to the passion fruit lemonade.
We were amazed to find out that San Antonio Spur make all their desserts in house so we had to try a few.
