Year In Review 2019: Ford EcoSport

We enjoyed the crossover SUV tremendously.
As a vehicle for a young family, it's well equipped for the everyday school run but also perfect for those #GoWander weekend trips away with luggage capacity or 333l and up to 800 more litres of space if one had to fold the back seats down.
The ground clearance is exactly what you expect from an SUV and it is slightly higher than some of its competitors in the class.
The Titanium model which we tested comes standard with push start/stop, automatic headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lights, puddle lamps on the automatic foldable side mirrors, roof rails and stylish 17 inch alloy wheels.
Like the Titanium Fiesta the EcoSport Titanium model is also fitted with a 8 inch colour touchscreen display which has Ford SYNC3, navigation and smartphone connectivity capabilities via Bluetooth, USB or Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
There's quite a lot of power in the 1.0 EcoBoost engine with 92kW and 170Nm of torque, which is the same engine as the Titanium Fiesta.
The EcoSport is a bit heavier than the Fiesta so you lose a bit of the thrust that the Fiesta gives when you punch the accelerator.
Ford claims fuel consumption of 6.7l/100km on this engine and we averaged about 7.2l/100km which was not bad considering we tested the vehicle mainly in the city.
The new EcoSport is well priced starting at R 271 500 for the 1.5l Manual Ambiente and the 1.0l EcoBoost Titanium 6 speed Automatic Model in Blue Lightning (Metallic) which we tested is R 360 900 📷 @ziyaad_86
